Sure were plenty of bikes out - did return trip to hamilton this afternoon and there were lotsa riders on the road. Always terrible to hear that not every one makes it home safely. Thoughts with both sets of families involved - bike and car. Plenty of yellow and blues out too, and also saw two ambulances (one going somewhere in a hurry heading north).

And another bad one - with lives in the balance

    NZPA

One man died and his 12-year-old son was injured when the motorbike they were riding hit a double cab vehicle about 3pm in the Taupo suburb of Ohakuri.

The boy and the driver of the other vehicle were flown to Rotorua base hospital and are in a critical condition, Neil Dodds, of BayTrust Rescue Helicopter, said

I was going through there with an accomplice and heard the fire station sirens spooling up as we went through kawakawa, millions of bikes out. Figured it was the herd of fukn gixxers we came acros round a corner on the wrong side of the road in a short straight further up.. about 3 deep :/?? wtf. Being tossers through the cagers (i'm saying that hypocritically - we all have every now and then) but they looked a little too naughty for their own good ah well.
Tyre shredding fun for all and a good blast i've been missing and ain't done for a while ^_^

    I'm an accomplice now?

Yeh, hadn't been out for a while, come out of a corner onto a straight, think, hmmm why am I seeing a headlight in my lane ah... I see... move to left

East Auckland ride was fine I believe... barely recognised a single face tho (bunch of newbies )... pyrocam you nonce, you didn't see me did you?

RIP for the guys... can't figure out where this was, as reports are conflicting, but roundabout seemed fine probably around 5-6ish I think, when we came back through via another route.

My most well known road that one, R.I.P to rider and driver and best wishes to the car passenger.

I have nearly had head ons with bikes myself on those roads. had bikers run wide etc.

Live and learn to the rest of us.

A tragic weekend. How easily lives are lost. I happen to know the sister of the Clevedon rider.

How that boy must feel having lost his Dad in such circumstances.

Rest in peace PB, condolences to Louise and the kids. The lad is in Starship with a brain bleed and broken femur. He may have surgery today on his head if swelling doesn’t go down, touch and go at the moment.

This latest incident has affected me greatly. I have been thinking for some time to get another bike. A Bonnie to be exact, to commute on, and to take the kids for rides on and the odd weeked away. I own a sports bike, but am to tempted to wind it on , so wanted some thing a bit more conservative. This accident has caused me a big rethink....just unbelivable.

RIP to all riders... Very sad news. Thoughts go out to all involved

We need to remember as the weather warms up but the roads are still cold, we can't ride like we did at the end of last summer... Ease into it guys and gals

    I Agree

RIP and condolences and all our thoughts to the families and friends involved.

I was riding out on the Clevedon roads sometime last week and noticed how crappy they are after the last few storms we have had. There is also alot of roadwork’s on the go. Take it easy fokes.
