Car driver didn't see you, you nearly died, and then after the fact you realised that you had an easy out that you just didn't take?

I wouldn't be blaming the car driver.

riiight.. so it was MY fault that the idiot forced me onto the wrong side of the road - there was no chance of slowing down before this happened..

what i did AFTER this fact, sure, is something i could have done a little better, but it was not my fault that i was in that situation to begin with.

Just because there is a momentary gap in oncoming traffic doesn't give a car in a driveway right of way to push you out of the way. Doesn't matter if you can slow down/pull in or speed up/pull in.

i like the fact you used the phrase momentary gap - because there was oncoming traffic that had actually already passed me too, i was lucky this happened when there WAS a gap, another bloke on a scooter and a few cars had already passed in the other direction, if this had happened a few seconds earlier i would not be here defending myself about people who think they are right because they have been on the road longer or have a higher post count than i do, i would be dead.

some people find that reason enough to ridicule or debase me.. i fail to comprehend that

Do I really need to spell this shit out?

You can't expect other road users to look out for you. 'Fault' is only something that matters to the cops and the insurance companies.

Getting all indignant because someone nearly killed you with their one-and-a-half-tonne wrecking ball on wheels is a waste of emotional energy that could be put into riding more defensively.

I sense Ehgreiz failing to take responsibility for his own safety on the road, ergo, he's at a high risk of bad shit happening to him.

doesnt really bother me, its a relief that the majority of the human race have sympathy or something useful to say, the rest i could care less about, but sadly the lesser of us tend to also be more vocal in their mocking and insulting..

You have two sides of a coin to deal with.

A: Your bike is small and difficult to hear and see (for the cager of "normal” intelligence). Remember that even IF they see you, they probably still haven't seen you.

B: Your bike is small and manoeuvrable. Think ahead of yourself and detect where the threats are before you get anywhere near them. If you have to, you can use that manoeuvrability to avoid the problem.

Cagers are simple 1-braincell creatures. Unless you pose a physical threat to them, your presence will not normally be noted. (Physical threat can be anything from being dressed in black, up to something that might rip their head off and shit down their neck).

    Situational awareness is everything.
