Although i can sympathise with the situation, i understand what Jrandom is saying...
I spend 10 hours a day on Auckland urban roads (all be it in a truck, not a bike) but i still have to compensate for a hell of a lot of other F wits which just arent aware of their surroundings. Especially as in a Truck Vs Car accident the truck usually gets the blame as far as piggies are concerned.
Seems to be the same thing on a bike, except even more so as you come out worse off...
Muzz
All right, here y'go. Would you like a hug?
You poor, poor sossidge. You got all scared! It's horrible when that happens, isn't it?
Swoop put the necessary advice nicely and sensitively, just now. Far more appropriately for your delicate sensibilities than my rather blunt assessment of risk should your attitude remain unchanged.
Go read his post.

welcome to KB. being a new poster, as I am to, you become a target of the long term poster that have been here for ever and consider it their right to give you as much shit as they can because they are never wrong and they always like to have the last word.
I thought it was KIWIBIKERS but sometimes it's KINDY BULLIES.
They generally have bigger dicks than we do and they like to insult your ride as well. That helps with the dick size I think.
"May the motorcycle god's keep your tyres pumped"
"The shortest distance between any two points on a motorbike, is the long way round"
right, okay.
scenario for ya Jrandom.
you are driving along, watching out ahead of you, taking note of cars on the side of the road, cars infront of you, cars coming towards you, when all of a sudden some guy comes screaming out of a blind side-road in your blind spot at high speed giving you all of .01 seconds to react to the screeching sound of tires and revving engine coming toward you.
now, weither or not you react correctly to this situation, is it your fault?
because according to what you are saying it is.
i appreciate where you are coming from, and all in all i have learnt from this situation, but FAULT is one thing, reacting correctly to a situation is another thing entirely..
i take responsibility for my actions and my safety when im on the road, as much as a fly takes responsibility of making a nice mess on your windscreen. there are some things that are just out of your control.
now while i do appreciate what you are saying, how you are saying it makes you look like a dick.

Oh so it's you we should all be blaming then.. good to knowSo you can explain why I don't have my bike yet then? (Yes I'm still thinking about it)
Still though, just because you did manage to get out of the way, and there was a slightly faster way out of it, doesn't mean you're at fault.. and as for 'posting a gay thread'.. this is educational for new riders, is it not?
while not the reason i originally posted it, i suppose it could be looked at as an educational thing.
i mean my lesson here is that when i get caught in a situation that is both bad and surprising and out of my control, rather than react to it calmly (in this case lightly breaking and pulling in behind his car) i panic panicked and expected the car driver to correct his mistake (which thank god he semi did).
the reaction was my fault, the driver being a blind dumb and stupid bastard was not my fault.
I don't drive.
I ride.
If I failed to anticipate something zooming out from a place on the road that I wasn't able to see, then I failed to protect myself.
If the vehicle didn't actually materialise out of thin air, then I should have read the road layout and anticipated it.
If you think that's asking too much, well... like I said. You gonna die.
No, it makes you feel belittled. Slight difference. And no offense meant. What I'm pointing out could save your life.
'1 Free Man' is just in a snot because I pointed out the other week, after he indulged in a self-righteous rant about how people shouldn't speed, that his bike could barely get over the legal open-road speed limit anyway.
It would appear that he sees the wobbly that he threw at me thereafter as 'crossing swords'.

I very nearly killed an innocent passenger in a car piloted by a learner driver yesterday. Closest I have come in a long time.
Driving straight through a T intersection where the cross roads have compulsory stops both sides. I always approach this intersection with caution and care as almost no one actually stops to check if there is something coming. I got almost into the intersection when a car came out to my right without showing any signs of slowing at all. I used all the stopping force my poor old bomb of a car had and heaved the steering wheel left to avoid it. Scared the bejaysus out of me.
I am picking the supervising passenger hauled on the handbrake as the driver had both hands off the wheel covering her face! FAAARRRR OUT!!!
This happened at a known dick heads dont stop intersection, prepared as I am, I still managed to come closer than I ever want to again.
Be aware at all times on a bike, they will get you if you dont!
I'm a simple 1-braincelled creature!!! OMG!!! How have I managed to survive so long??? [my internet connection is sooooooooooooo slooooooooow at the moment, so i've been unable to add the rolf smilie].
Last sentence is so true - always have to be thinking ahead even in seemingly 'ideal' conditions; and choosing where and when to test your (and your bikes) limits so you can maximise your chances of extracting yourself from a shit situation when it arises.
Btw swoop, you do know that some lovely lasses actually like staples (well piercings anyway) in those "centrefold" spots........wink wink
fair enough jrandom, and i do see my mistake already without you pointing it out in such an obnoxious way, but thank you nonetheless
its just that generally speaking i prefer advice to be given in a friendly fassion than in a way that makes me feel cruddy.. my fault for being human i guess![]()
Doesn't matter who's fault it is - you die - you're dead. End of story.
More motorcycle accidents are caused by other road users errors. Infact people pulling in front of bikes causes the majority of such accidents.
A lot of bikers kill themselves too by being dumb idiots, but these guys were gonna kill themselves anyway... hang around bikes for a while and you will know what I mean and who I refer to.
Leave JRandom alone, he already has a boyfriend. Eh Boomboomboy?
But if you're feeling lonely I know 1 Free Man for you.....![]()
