Gotta give due respect to scooter riders though. I don't think I could ever feel safe on one unless I was riding on the footpath !!![]()
There's your first mistake. Not paying enough attention to blind side-roads. Otherwise it wouldn't have been in your "blind spot". You don't only need to pay attention to cars on or near the road... you also need to pay attention to where cars could come from!
Overtaking with nothing coming the other way, only to see a car starting to turn into your overtaking lane because they are looking the other way not expecting someone to be travelling in the opposite direction on their side of the road is another typical example of this. Look for where cars could come from! Is the approach blind or would you have visibility of a car approaching? If there is any blind entrance onto the road you are on, then give it a double mental caution and allow your peripheral vision to earn its keep. Because someone could come screeching out of that entrance/side-road.
Granted you cannot always cover and foresee all possibilities, but the more you can reduce unforeseen incidences - the better the odds will be stacked in your favour. Sure no one is perfect but we can only try.

Yep, you're probably right. Some of the new scooters made for todays market are little grunters. Most people don't realise this but, scooters were invented for women.I know I am going to cop alot of flak for this but, here goes anyway.
Back in the "olden" days, most women considered it very unlady like to lift their leg up and over a motorcycle, especially if they were wearing a skirt so..... some onto it Italian dude decided to invent "the womans motorcycle" hence, the scooter was born. Look ! now you can step through the bike without lifting your leg and exposing your knickers !!
I know I am in big trouble for this...... hahahahahaha....![]()
nah not really anything sexist about that imo, and it makes sense... not sure if its true or not but it makes sense hehe
i mean cars were around since the lat 1800's, bikes were what? early 1900s? pretty sure they were around before WWI - and women in society were much more different then than they are now..
apologies also if anything i have said here offends any of the female KB'ers here, no offense/bigotry intended!![]()
