9.00am Pass Full test. 10.00am collect new bike.

well, after nearly a year as a new convert, (fast tracaked my license with a DD course etc)I have gone from nervously sitting the BHS, to passing my full test today, and gleefully collecting my new bike- a VFR800 which has been waiting patiently a few weeks for me

naturally had to take the day off to celecrate such a momentus occasion, and the weather Gods smiled.

testing woman at Orewa very nice, they now have hand-held radios to tell you what to do. Not a lot of traffic, and pretty easy I gotta say, as long as you aren't riding like a total moron.

high points to date: nothing beats collecting a new bike
low point: seeing the maturity of my fellow yoof-class mates in the defensive driving class and knowing we are sharing the same road.

did about 150 k's up North-norrth west of Auckland. saw lots of bikes, nodded a Postie, who didn't nod back. ( do they ever?), and took it nice and easy while we became 'acquainted"

well as seems to be the standard operating procedure, below is a pic of my new ride, now if I can only figure out how to get it downstairs into the bedroom......

thanks for all your advice and good humour, see you out there

Did a DD course not long ago cos I had to get my full cage license in a hurry for work, and have to agree 100% with that.. They were almost all under 20, I was by far the oldest at 30. And they were for the most part immature fuckwits.

Did you find the DD course worth while other than the fact you got your ticket to say you could move on up to bat at your full? I was keen, but 170 is a bit $ for 3 months for me...

it wasn't too bad, didn't tell me anything I didn't know, or hopefully practice, but it is all about what causes the problems: distration, inattention, road conditions etc, while in a car.

so pretty steep @ $170, but I am an impatient sod and with the proposed changes to motorcycle licensing I wasn't going to wait around and see if I suddenly had another 6 months to do on the restricted......
