You mean you *hoped* he/she wasn't going to change tracks?

All it would have taken was for him/her to think... hmmm that other track looks cleaner/doesn't have that rock like this side does...

It was still all their side of the road to use freely as he/she chose.

NO, unless he was one of the cocks that dogged a learner speed ride I was TEC for a few years ago between Waipu and Langs. Frankly I believe that kind of riding must be done by men with extremely teeny penises!

Christ I could be a poet!

Meh, If your going faster then the traffic you encounter then you have to pass. Its the law of the universe.

God himself couldn't go back and change the rules.

If they were a new rider then they probably would have been more worried about the mud.

And look at what some experienced riders just said before...

First time for us on this road and we were poodling along watching out for the green bits on the road when this loud GSX with an effing loud can comes flying past on a corner and none of us saw you coming!
What's the rush? Why not sit behind other bikes for a few moments until they have had time to check their mirrors and get to know you are behind them? Why are you in such a hurry? Is someone waiting at the end of the road with a chequered flag?

Ridden with Paul on many an occasion, bloody smooothe rider who rides well within his own limits. Very nice to watch indeed. Like all of us, he risks life and limb by just getting out of bed in the morning, but thats where it stops and I have had many conversations with him about riding safety in general. His views are sound and what you are seeing is a thinking rider who is very aware of his threats and manages his errors. I like the video, its a spectacular exposition of the 1400 on some of our roads around here. I instantly recognize Pauls riding style too. This is a motorcycle forum and we come here to do the motorcycle thing, videos and all.
Oh BTW, a lot of people also die in their beds.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

    Main reason for the vid?
I believe the GSX1400 is one of the most underated modern sports tourers on the planet. Over and over again I have considered selling her and maybe getting something sportier but quite frankly it is probably one of the best all round sports tourers you could get your hands on. The vid was to show you it's awesome attributes.

Now, I was not riding anywhere near 100% taking into account the road conditions and traffic. Quick....yes but mad, certainly not. I like to come home from a ride. The video camera angle may show some "dum" moments, I can assure you they were all made with careful calculations regarding velocity and speed and road conditions. I used to ride a hell of a lot faster and harder than that.

To some, they will appear crazy to others boring just as this thread has pointed out.

    ...(SNIP)...Cheers for the posts peeps

Looked bloody impressive from the back!

We did wave when you were parked up at the Kaiaua toilets, but might yet get to meet you face to face!

    Cheers,

    Geoff

Shame you guys couldn't have met up! Paul's a nice guy and a very good rider!

Nice Vid Paul! Reckon not the ideal road for the C50T, though... Still going to go through there again one day...

I have no idea, Nor any idea who the guy was, or who his mates are, or any idea as to his or his mates attitude to anything, nor do you, Whats your point?

Are you just demonstrating you can imagine anything you like to support a weak argument? Must be time to bust out a few statistics.

No-ones questioning the fact that Paul's a nice guy (or that he's a talented rider).

However, anyone who posts up a video like that on a public forum (even a motorcycling forum) and doesn't expect to cop some flak for it would have to be somewhat retarded.

Thanks ED. Yeah, awesome roads. You'd enjoy a run on the C50T through there mate. Wait till the moss and mud disappears. You'll love it I'm sure and the greasies at Kaiaua are worth the ride

Look mate, its all about risk. Your black and white outlook is flawed, as it doesn´t represent reality. Get into a car, boat, aeroplane or ride a motorcycle, you are always going to be at risk of hurting yourself or others.
How we manage the risk is what counts. That means thoughtfully driving, sailing, flying or riding within our means. The risk is never entirely eliminated, just managed to an acceptable level. Thats life and if you believe in risk free travel, then don´t ever get onto an aeroplane again. I´ve seen a lot of idiots on the roads riding way in excess of their ability, thus increasing their own and others risk to an unacceptable level. Beyond (paul) is not one of them.

Too many people confuse fast riding with good riding.
