John - not Slingshot - sorry, I think I confused you. When I said John, I was meaning my brother in law (Slingshot).

He had a quote from a bike shop up north, wanting to list it in the shop for 9995. The bike is mint, with lots of extras on it.

Alarm with Immobiliser, new tires, new break pads, polished mags, new windscreen, $670 service on the 24th of Dec including carbs balanced, shims done, oil flushed etc, plus lots more. New warrant and Rego, new paint job, he imported it so got it Vinned and they had to take it totally apart cos it wasnt regisitered when it came in or something, so that was a mojor check, and it passed with flying colours. Floats also done in service, new sparkies. Ventura carrier, Hard out service manual, and has all receipts. Only 34,700Km.

and it should be here on the truck TOMORROW

Oh, and more good news for me, I got accepted my the LTSA to sit my Full CBTA course on the 2nd That made my day.

Thanks everyone for the comments - I will be safe, I promise!

Congrats. Just be sure to get NO speeding tickets for the first year after you get your licence. And remember, after you pass on the day, you're still not licenced. You have to wait for it to arrive in the mail :sneaky2:
Are you doing it with Andrew at Roadsafe? I did, it was great. It was basically like a KB ride. Stopped at MacDonalds, went up Whitemans Valley, spent an hour or two in a parking lot doing various activities (one of those was taking pillion riders! You don't get THAT on your standard full test). Final section was on a set course. Very educational and benefical. Took about 8 hours though, including classroom theory (partly watching stunting videos!)

Just remember to take all the paperwork with you, including your LTSA acceptance letter, whatever licence you currently hold, the course fee, etc...

    Thanks Stonechucker,

Yep Im doing it at roadsafe in Welly.
I was considering doing it on the new bike, as Lynne from Roadsafe said it would be very beneficial to do it on it as I would learn how to handle it in a controlled situation etc, and would be very beneficial. She gave me the form, but I read you have to be over 25. Damn. So I will have to do it on my 150.

As for the wheelie photos! Maybe, but prob not. Probably best that I can ride in a straight line with the thing, without doing accidental wheelies, before I actually try to do a proper one.
Na I should be fine. I cant wait for the course now, it sounds really good. and I cant wait for my bike to arrive TOMORROW! or Thurdsay, depending if it is overnight or not! I hope it is! Taking an extended lunch break to unpack it if it arrives in the morning

    Thanks for the comments.

    Regards

    Hey all,

Received bike today, went a picked it up from the Depot. Bike was not in the same packing that it left up north in, so we knew something had happened. We suspect someone from the freighting company has ridden it during one of the stays along the way. It was origionally packaged in clear bubble wrap, celotaped together, but none of it stuck to the bike, just stuck to each bubble wrap piece. Keys were celetaped to the handlebars, not in the ignition, but when it arrived, keys were in the ignition, in the lock position, and there was a little piece of masking tape stuck over the keys. Having the keys in the ignition on lock, means the park light was on - and yes, the battery was flat when we got it. Dammit. Got it going though, and took it back to dads work, and then we realised all this. We did however notice that the fairing on the left had side was snapped, about 30cm long, on the top edge of the main fairing. Must have happened in the truck. The white foam that was over the tank when we got it, it was masked to the frame, and it had partially pulled all the paint off when we arrived, looks like it had been tried to be removed, maybe to cover up the packaging change? Im not sure, but it sucks what has happened. Other than that, the bike is awesome. Paint job average, but that is no biggie at this stage. I can get that touched up, anyway. That is not what has annoyed me, its the fact that it could have been ridden while in Auckland, or Whangarei. This totally sucks. We have contacted them, and they are investigating.
Im peeved.... but the bike is awesome.... so my peeving is starting to die.... until I remember what has happened!

Having the battery go flat cause the day to have a lot of problems, its now charging. Grr to the transporters. That totally sucks.

Personally I don't get bikes delivered and that's an example why.

Bummer dude, what transport company was it?

    It's here at least...

    Hey

Glad to hear it arrived. Apart from the crack, I wouldn't worry too much. It was ridden by other people in the past, but she's YOURS now, so enjoy Are you going to fix the crack? Thinking of REpainting it?

However, I'd still follow up if it WAS ridden. If it was, I'd firstly have the guy that rode it fired, and possibly ask for your money back? Then, post their name here, and slag them off. In this world of competitive business, it is INEXCUSABLE as a business owner/manager to let an employee make this sort of mistake. I have realised this, and only give businesses ONE chance.

Call me unfair, hasty whatever, it's just the way I feel.

Post some pics if you put decals on And give me a yell if you wanna go for a ride sometime, after you get your full.
    Dave

*EDIT* Have you ridden it yet? Note the odometer reading. Does the seller have the reading at the point he put it on the truck?

    Hey Dave,
Na he didnt. That is one thing he forgot. He also forgot to take a pic of the bike packaged up how he left it at the depot.
We are on to it though, Dad is not impressed at all (me either!), and has done a credibility enquiry with one of the guys he deals with there, as Mum and Dad own a company that uses 'EDIT (Company name removed until case over)' .......every day. Im not so much gutted at the damage to the bike, I am, but just more the fact that this has happened over anything else.
Yes I will get the crack fixed - will just wait for the verdict from Mainfreight first. In terms of painting - I really cant afford it at this stage, so I probably wont. Its not the best, but from a meter away it looks quite mint. Probably has something to do with it not having the last 2 coats of clear coat aswell, as that happens after the decals go on.
Ill post pics soon showing everything. Going to be a bit flat out till monday though.... its my STAG NIGHT tomorrow! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    Thumbs up Good News!!

    I have some good news!
Trucking company contacted us today, and told us that they had looked at the security tapes from Whangerei Depot. On it can been seen my bike being loaded onto the truck, exactly as the owner said it was - covered in clear bubble plastic! So that is some good evidence that something has happened.
Really stoked how they are looking into this so well. Good on them for their efforts

They are now checking Auckland to see if anything can be found there.

Also - Took the bike out for a ride today. Me on the back ... went for about an hour, and the bike runs beautifully, I was grinning the whole way out of town. It is just so smooth, and so much power! Dad went onto a side country road, and I had a ride. Went for about 10 mins up the road, onto gravel for a while, turned around and came back. Man, I couldnt wipe my smile. The bike is amazing. Went very cautiously, and had alot of fun. I cant wait for my next ride!

Just thought I would share my moment

Have a good weekend everyone, I will keep posting about the truck etc, so everyone knows the verdict.

    Cheers

    Cool

Good luck in sorting it out with "the trucking company"... and hopefully they will come to the party to pay for all damages... the replacement of the fairing, a new paint job since the paint is coming off from the tape and a new battery

I hope that who ever is responsible for touching or riding your bike does get the boot....
But if it was the driver of the trucks... then they are owner drivers... but then head office of the trucking company will deal with them if that is the case.

Ride carefully on that bike...... and do ride slow....

Well, it may not have been ridden, maybe they had to move it. Was the steering locked? Maybe the steering was unlocked to move it around. Often freight can be swapped to two or thee different vehicles to get to different location. It may not have been ridden......

    Hey Gav,

Steering lock was not on. Keys were also totally celotaped to handle bars, and they were masking taped into the ignition when we got it. There was no reason for them to use the keys at all, as the alarm was off, the bike was manoverable.
It was not rideable with all the bubble wrap on it, so that is why we think it has been wridden. The bubble wrap taken off, wridden, then for some reason replaced by something else.
Also there is a scrape on the side which we just found, by the broken fairing, touches about 3 places on the paint work, including the back where the ninja name normally goes, and the brake handle has a scrape on it too. if the bubble wrap was on it, that would not have happened in the truck, so it must have happened with the bubble wrap off.

    Cheers
