    I'd forgotten

The simple joy of riding a bike.
Just getting the gear changes right.
Feeling the warm wind in your face.
    The sweet smells of summer.
The sound of the engine under you.
Corners that you just wanna go around-
    Not to beat them,
not to go as fast as possible.
Just to go round for the pure joy of riding.
    I took a ride today ,
Alone as I mostly choose to nowadays,
Thinking it was the best way to remember two mates
    I REMEMBER NOW

Thanks Darryl, thanks Bruce for reminding me
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?

Mate that's what we're here for, to enjoy ourselves by enjoying the ride. For me it will be 40 years of it come late next year and I've never lost the feeling of fun.

    So keep at it.
    Cheers

+1. Sometimes it is good to be reminded why we ride
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I have no idea who Darryl or Bruce are but it near bought a tear to my eye. I'd like to donate some bling in memory of mates we once knew.

I had a fabulous ride today. Just commuting, nothing special, but I clicked up into second ... gave it a bit ... and being able to feel the lumps in the road, the tyres gripping and the 'muscle memory' being ready and able to hold me straight as I accelerated it reminded me how entirely cool it is to be able to do this.

It's just like having your legs replaced by something from a Marvel comic. With all the attendant problems. But, damn, it is cool.

And the smell of 'hot bike' after a good ride. The 'tink tink tink' of metal cooling and the heat distorting the light creating that 'ripple' above the bike.

Sometimes just looking at it, just thinking about the bikes potential, it's capabilities...

...then there is the ride itself - just nice to sit in top gear and cruise along with low revs, visor open.. ...feeling every part of the road, the heat, and finally the adrenaline pulsing through every part of my body - energising me, feeling abosolutely content and happy.

One of lifes ironies... some things are best forgotten (hate?), some things should never be forgotten (love?).
