Hi young1, I called up the Awakino Hotel to make a booking for Friday night, they already have a block booking for a motorcycle group on that night of approx 20 riders. Is this for our ride? I said yes anyway.
Cheers
Awakino seems to be an awfully long detour to make from the end of fishers track then have to head back towards whangamomona again the next morning.
Wouldnt Owhango pub or somewhere in Taumaranui seem a better idea to stay for friday night ?????
Just my 2 cents worth.
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time
All my updates are now combined on page one with the original ride details
Motoxnut it is a way to ride but by starting at Awakino we get a better ride on Saturday (however we can still meet any one planning on staying at Whanga, Taumarunui etc)
Mike, I have booked myself in for the house on Friday. Will work the 'how i'm gonna get there' later. ie see what Iain comes up with!!
Going away, busy?
Need your pets fed @ home or dog walked? go here www.petcarebiz.co.nz
Wanna stay in Kawhia? Have I got the bach for youPM me for details
Probably a dumb question but I,m planning to meet up on the sat morning somewhere like Ohura as suggested but do I need to book the Te Wera Sat night accommodation or is the a given that my names on the list just checking![]()
Just another accommodation option for those who want to stay on the coast, Mokau is only 5 km from Awakino, also has a pub, takeaways etc and more beds there if Awakino fills up. See ya'll up there
Oh yeah, what's the deal at Te Wera campground? Tents required or do they have a big lodge or something. In other words, do I need to bring sleeping bag or will they provide a luxurious bed with crisp linen for a filthy biker?
Young1, please put my order in for one of their best looking sheep.![]()
So its 95? for the wanga pub on the friday night, Do we need to book?
Te Wera, i guess we are booked in, like crazyfrog, what is the requirements there? and costs and arangements for food and grog?
CANT WAIT![]()
To answer the last few questions;
Mokau, there is no pub there, but there is a motel.
I don't know what the cost of the Whanga pub is.
Te Wera camp is an old foresty camp that has been converted over the years to a camp that the schools now use for outdoor education. They have a new hall and kitchen block after the last one burnt down. You will need sleeping bags.
Cost for Te Wera is $50.00 all up for food and accomodation. One of the requirements is that we clean it before we leave so I am sure everyone will chip on with that.
Re booze, a mate of mine might come out and just ride day two on his KDX200 (he can also lead anyone who wants to go thru the Whanga rode) he (not that he knows it yet) will bring the beers out. Failing that we will find another way to get them there!
Since work is escalating into a ferocious cluster fuck, due to lack of skilled staff, and lack of structured planning. I know, "it's the kiwi way", I will plan on scoffing down some stale bread with rancid butter on Sat morning, an head for Ohura if that is still a planned meeting point.
Mike, I'll see ya this Sat etc![]()
If only the decision was up to me mate.
Still, at least I should be there for Sat/Sun. (Fatty hasn't turned a wheel since Kawhia, so i should be fizzing at the bung by the 27th)![]()
