    Question My first bigger bike?

I'm looking for some advice regarding this bike for sale:
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-170458255.htm

I really like the basic cruiser styling, and I've just got my full licence.

What do you think this bike will go for? Do you think it's a good first bike?

Any advice about buying this bike as a first bigger bike is much appreciated

Intruders are a good reliable bike. You should have a good time with it. Haldanes would have given it a good look over at wof time. Any bike shop will give it a check over and condition report for the cost of about 1 hours workshop labour. Ask the seller if he will take it in (at your expence) for a pre purchase report.

As a first bigger bike, i would take a look at it.How much you want to pay is up to you but the Intruders are good bikes, i have two of them and can swear by their reliability. This one being a 750 might be a bit small for a lot of two up riding but for a first bigish bike, worth looking at.

As above - Intruders are awesome bikes... some would say better than the Boulevards that followed them. The only concern I would have with this bike is its age.

Get it checked over thouroughly before comitting to buy...

    nice looking Cruiser too.

    Thanks guys.

Couple of questions.. what would you be prepared to pay for the bike advertised?
And what kind of price would after-market pipes be?

The true worth of a bike is... whatever YOU are prepared to lay out for it...

For a more accurate estimate of its worth - ring a Suzuki dealer and get a sales guy to look at the listing and give you a minimum vs maximum figure that a bike of this age / mileage etc would go for. While hes on the phone to you ask him about the pipes too.

You will find that everyone on KB will have their own idea of what a bike is worth or whether it is even something they would consider... then you will just end up confused with conflicting and potentially poor advice.

Both our Intruders were bought new.My wifes is an 04 1400 and mine,s a 06 1400{s83}.We paid $13 grand each with around $1000.00 knocked off the the price. The one your looking at is an 87 model? with a starting bid of around $3000.00?.I dont think i,d pay much more than 4grand, even less if possible.Make an offer and see how you get on,the age of it might go in your favour.

I had an '87 Intruder 750cc - loved it. Never let me down.

Then I had two 1400cc Intruders - never let me down either.

The 750 will treat you well power wise / got enough punch but nothing dangerous.

Intruders handle ok enough for the long rake of the fork.

One problem with old Intruders is they rust. Inspect all chrome carefully. My mate has an 89 Intruder and he bought it when it was raining - the beaded up water obscured the bubbling rust starting to form.

Other than that they are great bikes, beautiful style and sound great especially with the right pipes. 750cc is plenty big for two up unless you want to race one up mega hp sport bikes.

Two other points - 1. The petrol tank is small so long trips in the wop wops would be a no go unless you carried extra petrol. 2. Some guys complain of lower back problems when sitting on a cruiser for long periods; it may feel ok when sitting for a few minutes but long trips could be different.
