    Nana post time

    *dons flame suit*

    [nana post]
    Its pretty simple really.

    Re revenue collecting

If you speed - you are breaking the law - your choice

Sure, no one likes speed cameras at the end of passing lanes, at the bottom of hills etc. But cheaper than all sophisticated detection systems is just stay under the posted limit. If you still choose to speed, then just take the damn ticket if you are caught.

For other behaviour in traffic. If you are worried about it being legal or if you should do it or not. Just imagine that at least ONE of the cars you are passing, splitting or what ever is a cop. Imagine a cop is watching you and in the perfect postion to pull you over. Would you still do it?

    [/nana post]

I dont always keep to the speed limit. I lane split occasionally, cut through traffic to get to the front of the queue occassionally. But if I get caught then that is my responsibility. All the choices were mine.

I dont run red - I dont want to die
I dont run stops signs - I dont want to die

Thanks to all the cops out there who are trying to do the best job they can given the orders that are handed down to them!

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

This is extremely simplistic. Would you say Nelson Mandala deserved 27 years in prison? He new the laws against apartheid and broke them anyway - his choice.

Just because it's law does not make it right.

I reserve the right to conduct my life in a manner that causes no harm to anyone.

And this is all I ask from anyone in return (the law included).
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin (1706-90)

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending to much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

"Motorcycling is not inherently dangerous. It is, however, EXTREMELY unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence and stupidity!" - Anonymous

I was not commenting on the law itself, I was commenting on the choice to break it. If you want to change the law. Campaign to have it changed. If you choose to break it then deal with the consequences for doing so.
I am not commenting on laws or situations that to our eyes are unjust or wrong.
We can all bring up a situation where it does not fit the 'rules' or makes them look wrong. But part of living in a society is living by the rules of that society.

While having the right to conduct your life in a way that harms none would be nice, it does not seem to be the way the world works.

Yep. Its gotta be the materials...!!!

Does this gym sub take you up to the cray holes? Has it got a scolly dredge? How many people can it take on board at a time???

Paua around these parts are small... Simply too many taking too many. They don't get the chance to grow and breed... But some in these parts try and tell ya they just don't grow big enough down here. Yeah right.....

Lol Wide open to that one ! Funny thing is 2 hours after i made the last post a mate arrived and offered me half share in a boat he's looking at ! Just a 14' glass plylite i think, with a 15 horse on the back but how could i refuse lol

Same problem down here mate, the two spots i shore dive at are wellington sth coast( nothing wrong with moa point paua it ya dont eat the hua i recon lol) and titahi bays ! Last time i was out titahi bay was damb frustrating, there i was floundering around, swimming for miles for a good 90 minutes to find my quota of just on the limit, while a family had a fire on shore and up to their knees raping the undersize shellfish and eating them on the spot !
No way they'd get busted in that setup, you could see rangers comming for miles and SFA lil old me could do against 3 or 4 blokes twice my size apart from give em the fuck you glare !

Not unlike around these parts... Have assisted fisheries on a few occasions and man................ The racist crap spouted by those who consider themselves guardians of the sea.....

    Angry

I started this thread with a rant about people not taking personal responsibility for their driving errors.

    Odd, nothing has changed............

I have my license in my hand before the boys in blue reach me, I ask for my ticket, no fuss, no bother. After all, with my riding it is about time I got another one.

I wait for him to go back to his car to write the ticket, put down my visor and swear and scream at myself, and then when he comes back with the ticket I open it up and say thank you with a smile.

You police have one of the hardest jobs in the world. You guys deserve a lot better than you get. You get all the bad stick, and too often you aren't thanked for the good jobs you do. Keep giving the tickets out to those that deserve them, and those of us who think we don't. And thank you for all the things we haven't seen you do, taking our drunk teenage daughters home, taking the keys off our drunk family, running off the vandals from our workplaces at night, checking for what we heard go bump in the garden at 3am, and everything else you do in the name of your job. Keep up the good work.

And, if you've got a buddy in New Plymouth, can you give me a message? I'm worried my new bike exhaust might be a little too obnoxious (as opposed to too loud) and I'd like an unbiased answer.

Unfortunately the law often stops them from doing the good jobs right. Too many people get away with what they do, even when they've been caught.
