So the side walls are softer? This gives the tyre more chance to move the foot print? Can't argue with that. Thanks for the info. I still find the Pilot road a better tyre for the Gixxer. A mate has the 100 on his 86 thunder ace and it just scarred the crap out of me under power.

Good to see you passed my test.

The force is strong in this one.

Caught....I hate it how the spell check doesn't look at the context of what it's checking.

The Thunderace (that would be '96 wouldn't it?) probably has twice the power of the TRX and two fifths more than Slingshot's CBR, so it probably was a little overwhelmed.

I would agree with this but when I ran the pilot hard it did not feather up on the sides it tossed out big lumps. It really made a mess of the tyre. I ran it at 38 psi and after that ride I ran it at 40 but it was too hard and skips across the bumps in the corners. Not a nice feeling at all so dropped it back to 38. I have a feeling the Gixxer is a bit to light in over all weight and the tyre was not getting hot enough. This did happen in the winter as well. But with 12,000 km out of it I was happy. I changed to the Diablo to get a tyre I could really cane this summer and it is a great tyre for that but it is expensive to run so will go back to the Pilot road.

ooops I see what you mean yes 96 not 86.
Yes that is a good way of putting it. It felt like it wanted to get off the rim and go home.
I hate the 5 speed box in it as well. Anyway this thread was on tyres.

So do you use the Dragon GTS rear? Are we even going to start a discussion regarding mitching and matching brands here? Seem to recall most were against the idea of running two different brand tyres? eg a Pirelli front and a Bridgestone
    rear, now its OK?

I second that if you're doing high milage. I tried a Z6 on my gsxr750 and went to a trackday. Thing held up very well. Surprised alot of people. And it lasts ages too.

Currently I've got Dragon GTSs front and rear...and yes, I will probably mix and match.

Bugger...I had almost settled on the Bridgestone 020s...now I'm not too sure again.

I have read many of these comments. I have tried the match I have mentioned here and it is a good one. The dragon on the front of this 750 is the best I have had and it is staying on and the rear loves the Diablo but the wallet does not so it is back to the next best thing. the pilot road. This is a match I have run both in the winter and in the summer and for my bike and my riding style it is great. So I can conclude if it works do it.
