They sent me another one to replace the leaking one.
I have had some interesting PM's over on the ADVRIDER site regarding Aqualines/Safari's bodgy QC.
The first tank was quoted at AU$700 ($250 deposit at local bike shop)
When it got here 5 1/2 weeks later (that is a story in itself, someone was telling porkies ) i get asked for the remaining $500... ??? I ask what happened to the quoted price,i owe you $450.
I get lip they get a burst being it is a rip off anyway.
I then get the tank for $675,wasn't looking for a discount, just some integrity but thanks any way.
The quality given the cost is pretty average in my opinion given they are rotary mold and they have been doing it a while.
One day some 6/8 months later i am asked is that your bike out there leaking fuel onto the exhaust
I email them (never got a reply but they did ring but not speak to me) and another tank is sent, straight away i notice a bodgy area to the right of the R/H rear mount. (like it had been smoothed over with a hot bread knife or something.
Three weeks later the thing is leaking from that exact spot ( as others have i am told)
We are talking fuel dripping onto the hot exhaust ...dripppp psttttt smoke...dripp pssst
I take a movie and email it via the website, this time i get a reply sorry blah blah.
You would think given the consequences if the tank went up they would have made sure they sent a good replacement.
They then send number three tank, second replacement.
I actually left it in the box for weeks before looking,no surprise it has the same mark at the mount,it has lamination's,the thread at the filler looks like it was dragged across concrete,it has a gouge under the filler etc etc.
I can live with a few dings etc remembering this is no different if it was the first tank sent,in that case it would have been unacceptable given the cost.
After the PM's i received, one guy who bought a Safari did not like the quality on receiving it or the fit, safari offered him $250 for it![]()
Although good in sending me replacements, they have never told me how to send the old ones back.
What i am going to do is keep the second leaker and see if it can be repaired via plastic welding ( I still have the first tank that is cut up per instructions which can be used as filler)
If successful that can be a spare to go with the one on the bike now.
Safari are obviously cowboys with no overall quality control and are not prepared to back the product up with anything but luck of the draw, sending two seconds as replacements is priceless.
Remember while that was going on i had received the non usable (damaged O-Ring so would not hold gas) Ohlins shock, another case of no quality control and a care less attitude when i had to pay to send it for repair..wtf.
There was never any mention of compensation.
Other than that things have gone well.![]()
