    Riding a drunken bike....

On my way home tonight the wheels on my RG felt unsteady, almost like they were'nt on properly. So I pulled over and checked that they were'nt actually loose and they were'nt so I checked my tyre pressures at the station and they were sweet, though I had just pumped them up on Sunday.... I am at a lose to think what it might be!

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I think its most likely in my mind but just in case its not what else should I be checking out on the bike? Any suggestions welcome!!

I know the feeling, had my SV in for a service, picked it up the next day, got a couple of K's down the road and it felt like the steering was out, back wheel all over the place, I shat myself, slowed as gradually as possible and pulled off the road.

Bike was absolutely fine, all checked out ok, nothing out of place.. Jumped back on and still felt weird, but just rode through it. Was all in the head.. though very weird feeling..

    That YOU aren't drunk

No seriously though only thing I can think of is uneven or ugly wear...the SV felt like that to begin with on that ferkin horrid tyres it had and once i had newish rubber on it went away completely.

    Other than that I can't help...drinky o'clock I reckon.

I've noticed this a bit lately and it has always been in the same bits of road.Ithink the roads are losing the shape and getting rutted out. Yes i checked my tires too.

I have struck that before and it was the road. Just an uneven surface that looked fine but had wee corrugations in it.
Slightly different feel as you pumped up the tyres on Saturday is probably the more likely cause though. Bikers are just so aware of what their bike is doing that any little thing can feel like a huge difference.

Hey, now there's a really good point! The road surfaces around Welly are absolutely shocking at the moment!

Spoke wheels or mags ? Could be loose if spoked , did you run your hand around the tyre while its on the main ? Sometimes tyres let go inside which creats a bit of a bulge in the centre of the tread which would give ya a wobble (till it blows its guts and spills ya off)
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Also check the steering head bearing tightness. If it's not obviously loose then you might need to get someone to lift the bike front wheel , (most bike you can stand on the side stand and pull the handle bars back to lift the front wheel) like they do in a warrant check, while you see how sloppy it is.

    wheel bearings
    steering head bearings
    wheels out of alignment
    chain worn out
    forks - bent-empty-uneven fluid
    rear suspension broke
    sprokets worn
    frame bent
    brake discs warped
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

If you're using SH2 from Wellington to the Hutt use the outside lane. The inside (slow) lane is an absolute mess after the weather we've had, and of course the heavy traffic.

The RG is pretty light as well so you'll feel any imperfections more than on something heavier. Still never hurts to give the beastie a once over.

Its funny isnt it....The bike was completely fine on the ride in this morn. Though the bike does now feel like it is tipping into corners faster. I think its all in my mind!!

I think you're right. A lot of it is in the mind (riding is all about confidence). Little bit less wind around as well, and that can be really offputting if it's striking you at an oblique angle (oh yeah managed to get oblique in).
