Test rider needed for Vibrating Hornet

I have posted about my bike before.
I have a 2007 Honda Hornet 900 and it has vibrated since new. It is so bad that I sometimes have to stop to get feeling back in my hands and feet. Honda have tested the vibration with a meter and found it to resonate between 7 and 10 times more than a control bike. They stripped and balanced the engine but its no better. I need a Hornet owner/rider to test ride my bike and give an unbiased opinion about it. I would like to go back to Honda to argue my case that this bike is not operational. Should you be willing to ride my bike I would like to use your opinion/review as ammunition.
I live in Orewa and if someones willing to ride my bike, I will buy the coffee.

Any talk of them replacing it under warranty if it is so far off their "control" bike?

Honda said after they stripped an balanced the engine that it was within their limits of acceptable vibration.

    consumers act

If the bike cannot fulfill the intended reason of purchase, then you have the right to return it, consult your local MTA or citizens advise bureau they may have the answer you need

which bike shop you bought it from? Because the purchase was between you and the bike shop. Although honda NZ can look into it, it is the bike shop that has to get you right. So you can really ask the bike shop for a replacement / refund. If they don't play ball then take it up as a formal complain with consumer rights ppl.

    Quote from http://www.consumer.org.nz/topic.asp...summary&bhcp=1

If an item has a serious fault then you are allowed to return it. See our full report on the Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) for more details.

Generally a serious fault means a reasonable consumer wouldn't have bought the product if they'd known about the fault. The CGA also applies if the item can't be easily repaired, is unsafe, doesn't match its description or demo sample, or is not fit for the normal purpose.

Please also kindly inform Honda and the Bikeshop involved that lots of Honda customers are reading this with big eyes.

I have been down the track of trying to get my money back. The Consumer Guarantees Act is very clear on what criteria must be met. It doesnt account for the ginger headed tosser who not only dosent know or care about the law but has my $11000 in his back pocket

If the bike shop is affiliated with the MTA you can contact them and pursue it through there mediation.

I've experienced this on the odd occasion - I changed the tyres, seemed to work, older bike tho.

Also might be a defective wheel bearing?? check tyres for bulges etc may have delaminated??

could be a few things. does it vibrate at idle or only at speed??

Take it back to the shop u purchased it from, take something for a test ride and don't return it until yours is fixed - should get you a response . . . of sorts.

Please don't take *this* the wrong way, but So what??

No offence intended, but it's his $11K. If the bike doesn't meet his expectations, it should go back until it does. I had a similar thing with my old Commodore. I was a fussy prick, but the dealer was quick enough to take my folding, they can get it right.

And a shitty letter to Honda NZ will probably work wonders. And dropping references to "Fit for purpose" made to the dealer principle, rather than the sales dork.
