Petition to keep Palmerston Nth Rescue Chopper service

I made a couple of phone calls yesterday and was put in touch with one of the pilots of the Palmerston North rescue chopper.

The chopper firm are meeting with the Council on Friday to finalise some details, and they will fax me a petition form on Friday. (The chopper firm can't be seen as organising or promoting the petition because they are contracted to run the rescue service therefore have a vested interest in keeping it going.)

I have already arranged to fax a form through to Phil Turnbull Motorcycles in Palm Nth and will also contact Anza to see if they'll have one on their counter.

I'll contact the shops here in Wgtn to see if I can fax them a form.

Anyone who wants a form faxed to them, please PM me your details.

Hitcher: the pilot I spoke with wasn't the one who'd flown Jane, but he knew about the flight and was very pleased to know that she was on the mend.

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

But the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want.

    How about a "Signature" ride?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    I was thinking similar thoughts.

Maybe a ride to the Fish on Sunday with copies of the petition form available for those in a mood to sign...

I may have a pillion in tow by then!

Brilliant idea, plus Hitcher is of them people with the necessary contacts to actually make it happen!

I’ll be in for Sunday if it isn’t too early.

Give a copy to the other ride organiser as well?
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

our local bike club back in the day has twice yearly charity runs to support the air ambulance, riders pay a couple of $$ to join the ride, club members act as marshals, and everyone winds up at a bar for bands and drinkies.
What do ya reckon is a similar thing possible here?.
We had upwards of 300 on the last run, its great publicity for bikers and raises awareness of the air ambo

Ruth Dyson is one of the 'honourable' mps in 'The house', actually probably the only one thats left.

Pass the glass of wine please.

    Good news though.

Just don't give any wine to Ruth, she seems to have had a problem with that before.

Couldn't believe my eyes/ears when I watched the news (belatedly on tape) last night - yeeehhhaaarrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

So no need now for the petition after all - but who knows what will happen in the future? If need be we'll swing into action again should things change.

This is good news. We should put plans in place to save the service next year or 07 because this is election year and they will change their minds after the election. I think the farming community would be on their case if they cancelled this service as it is life or death for a lot of us out on the land. The Hawkes Bay chopper was promised as part of our service when the Napier hospital was closed and we intend to keep it. Anyway a good result at this time.

    Vigilance. And a "national" perspective.

What happens in other parts of the country (with the possible exception of Auckland) is important to us as bikers because we're a mobile lot and likely to go there at some time. While we ride safely there are always going to be those times when things go awry and rescue services are needed.

Anyway, Hon Ruth Dyson's back-flip is an excellent outcome. There was much rejoicing in the Hitcher household!
