    Empathy can help?

There was a local bike shop hereabout where I know the staff were instructed that there were some people who were not to be permitted a test ride under any circumstances. As someone already suggested, their reputations had preceeded them.

Put yourself in the position of the shop owner, how would you feel about a letting a guy with a reputation for being something of a nutter on bikes or for being hard on machinery, or whatever, ride your bike?

OK, there may be one or two guys in the area who won't buy a bike off your shop but what price peace of mind?

I bet they simply recon that its too much bike for you.

Ask for a ride on a GN250 and see if they say yes.

Haha - I picked up my scooter from Mt Maunganui and rode it back to Auckland. A couple hours of ridin' ain't no big thing!

I didn't have a problem not bothering to take it for a test ride, already rode one the same model earlier in the week. The ride back was good - didn't even go over the ton or anything .

No - it begs the question - do you let someone test ride a bike if you think there's a reasonable chance they're going to thrash or trash it. It's a basic commercial tenet. They're there to make money and if (in THEIR judgement) you're more likely to cost them than bring them money then the answer shall be "no".

"Sure I ride them hard" = tire wear + increased risk of binning... the $$$ are starting to stack up against you. Add your online persona, and despite how nice you are in real life... that shit you sling just came back. Don't give me the "oh well it's their loss" line either. It's obviously a loss to you too - or you wouldn't bother test riding it.
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details

when i ask for a test ride, there is no chance, but when i mention paying cash he is interested again, but i have to come back!its 4pm, a hour before closing time!

can anyone sell me a decent naked sportsbike?

    cause waikato yamaha cant!
Thats funny because they wouldn't let me test ride there bikes either..........

So I went and brought three new Suzuki's from road and sport $35k ish and one new Kawasaki from Mt Eden $10k ish...And four more bikes privatley $25k ish..In the last two years and since they refused me that test ride..

Oh well i guess there loss.....4 New bikes and 4 used ones they didnt sell ! ! ! ! And $70k of buso they could of had off me if they treated me right the 1st time...

Makes you wonder why they bother wasting there money on advertising to get new customers....When they dont know how to treat the ones they already have right 1st...

Decided that putting Dumpty's bike back together again would cost a bit much
So they stuck it up on TardMe with a $1 reserve.

I think the simple fact is that sure, Carver may ride like a mental patient at times, but the thing is: He has a full license and he has funding for any bike he may set his eyes on. 26 bikes in only a couple of years (non-financed as far as I know) surely says he can afford it.

Just like Crazy Steve put forward: Bike shops are losing business before they even get it for the simple reason that they think, oh wait... this person isn't what we're looking for in a client. If they wanna be like that, they should go work in a f**king real estate business selling mansions or Rolls Royce dealership or something.

I'm not saying every person that wants to test ride a bike can cough up the coinage to pay for it, but benefit of the doubt: If they sign the form that says they will pay for the excess should anything go wrong, what's the problem?

i agree with you, i dont need to kiss ass to buy a bike, i want a salesman to try to sell me a bike
