    Farm exemption of registration fees

Can we regisiter our houses as farms and get the almost free annual car and bike registration rate-
This is a sore point--we are subsidising the farmers as they can get under $100--00 PA. regoes if they stay within 20 or 21 kms of their farm--who checks up on this???
Does anyone know these rules exactly?????

As the old cheese add used to say ' It's worth a crack Nigel"
A universal dream of greatness is that
We push ourselves to the limit
Yet still be brilliant when the chips are down.

one example I heard about--these "FARM VEHICES" don,t even need W.O.F.s either.
with all the road safety around these days, this part of the road rules seem to have a gaint big hole in them. In the case i know about the vehicle was just pink or green stickered and that was all. its was so rusty it was a wonder it didn,t fall to pieces.how safe it is for two wheelers riding along the road.

rego the vehicle as a B registration
then you dont need wof .
only catch is ,the vehicle has to based at the place of work ,EG your place.
you can only use it for travel between propertys or on the farm .
you may find it works you just cant go past your gate.
    Or
only travel to say you next proprty and return .

that, great if they stick to the rules. How can anyone trust their steering (a car is the example i,m talking about) if the WOF is 4 years out of date--
steering and brakes are prime safetly issues regardless of distance travelled-- I tend to think most rural users in this catorgory stick to the rules---

Hi, the fines for telling porkies to the ministry are huge......you may find they own your house if you get caught.
But if you want to try....................the rules are
1: you can only go between properties you own or lease with machinery or stock or stockfood.
    2:maximum distance is 20 k
3:if you have a prang, the vehicle must still be "considered" roadworthy!!
    4: no motorways at all.
    5: still licenced with a "b" licence.

    I wouldn,t dream of it.
but the case i know of the car was old to start with and doing a lot of highway number 1 driving in and out of towns as well--most rural people are far more responsible than that--
that,s how i learn,t about this two tier rego and wof system we have in NZ
