    Indeed.

That's why the word "safe" is in inverted commas. The idea of total safety is a myth. But with the right attitude you can get closer to it than otherwise.
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin (1706-90)

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending to much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

"Motorcycling is not inherently dangerous. It is, however, EXTREMELY unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence and stupidity!" - Anonymous

    There are no safe roads.

Having said that, the safest place to ride is within your own level of ability.

Looking at the "KB Statistics"... the open roads have caused more deaths than "in-town".

Toatally agree...Im so sick of being paranoid every time I head down the Buller Gorge as if the shit surface, new potholes, campervans stopped in the middle of the road, fuckwits cutting corners wasnt bad enough, then the legions of mufti cops mean Im thinking too much about all these factors all the time rather on concentrating on what Im really out there to do....
The track's like sex...a good one will keep you thinking about it for days

None of the above list is intrinsicly safe, or even more intrinsicly safe than another just have different variables.

The only "safe" place to ride is the right head space.
