No wonder I couldn't figure out how to use double chins to help start the thing.........![]()
Ahh it's fixed....... blew the fuse in the starter solenoid thingee.... replaced it and its now fine.......... Big thanks to Devil for coming over, finding and fixing the problem.
Got the fairings back from Grille and Bumper exchange, and will take off to MotoHaus tomorrow to get a quick test done to make sure I don't blow up on Sunday
Have you tried to crash start it? Warning, do not try unless you know what your doing.
If you haven't got it started yet, I can come and take a quick look at it on Saturday morning, at least to check eletricals are working OK..
Speed limits are just a suggestion, like pants.
Yes we did crash start it....... took around 15-20 mins of hobbling along my driveway and then the road.
It now starts fine.
It's off to the doctors tomorrow anyway so no worries![]()
Cool, fingers crossed it's just a dead battery.

sorry I wasn't around to help out.

To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
All that shagging around trying to sort my charging and starter solenoid problems paid offOriginally Posted by XJ/FROSTY
Justsomeguy: These engines/bikes aren't too keen on sitting around for long periods of time. If you find you cant get out on the bike, at least fire it up weekly and run it for a few minutes. Even some gentle laps of the driveway. Helps stop crap building up inside and keeps the battery a little happier. Even better for the battery is to leave it on a trickle charger.
The reason the bike was sitting around was because I was too busy....... working 70+ hours a week doing ridiculous shifts.
I've since changed jobs and have a lot more time.
I will now be riding as much as I can.
Went to motohaus and got a new clutch lever put on and had them check out the bike.
The bike is pretty ok........
Getting the steering head bearings done tomorrow and having the break fluid bled.
Sometime next week or the week after I'll get the forks completely overhauled and probably get new brake pads........
Then the bike will be MINT
New Tyres, chain, sprockets, head bearings, fully serviced, oil/filter done, brakes done, forks done, ........................![]()
I'll be doing some cleaning today and then when I get it back home tomorrow will do some more cleaning and get the fairings back on
All that will then be left is getting the forks done and the break pads changed (they are probably good enough, but hey I don;t like my things to be simply good enough).......... then I'm off to Scenic Drive every day![]()
ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR GETTING IT GOING
I was lucky enough to score a bike that had been sitting around a while and the only thing wrong with it was a knackered battery. $120 later and a riders tune from Energy Honda and its like new. One thing I have learned the hard way from the dead battery is that I must get the bike out at least once a week. Even if its just to let it idle in the car port for a while to bring it up to temp. The only downfall of the 1990s CBs are that unlike the 1970s models, they do not have a kick startOriginally Posted by justsomeguy

Hmmm........ lot of people told me to buy a CBR250 ........ as they said that was the best 250 with bulletproof mechanicals.
But beggars can't be choosers.......![]()
But you have to start off somewhere and I think you could have done much worse.Originally Posted by justsomeguy
