    There is a chance that AMPs will wave a portion of the excess if your mate buys a brand new one anyway.

    Personally, I'd avoid a bike that will dent the frame when falling over, like the fuckin plague. Those crash pucks are only glued on, and knowing what contact glue does if conditions aren't perfect, they are worth squat by way of piece of mind.

    Yeah well, I've seen different. In fact I've dropped mine twice and done NIL damage. None at all. Because the crash pucks (and hand guards and fexi blinkers) work so well.

    They do peel off at high speed, but I've seen 2 badly crashed also and the damage bill was very minor compared to others I've encountered. It helps that they have very cheap parts.

    Some US insurance companies even discount premiums for them because they (pucks) works so effectively at low speeds.
