Honda CX400 Brake Declaration

My 1983 Honda CX400 has been off the road for 9 years and needs a Brake Declaration as part of the registration process. Aparantly I can fill in the form myself but I don't know what the OEM Specifications are. Can anyone help:
FRONT

It has a disc on the front and drum on the rear. I have been told that the bike is the same as the CX500.

Normally with the re-vin process the brake declaration has to go through a bike shop and the bike must be delivered to the vin station immediately afterwards or within a hour of it taking place. At least thats what happened when I did my last bike a year ago.

If you have a good local shop they should do it for you for next to nothing. Good luck

you don't need to do this if your bike was REGed in NZ before 1991

That's very interesting. My bike was registered before 1991 but the registration lapsed without being put on hold. Does the 1991 rule still apply? Is it somewhere on the web so I can point the VTNZ guys to it when they say otherwise?

Year of first NZ registration. You don't need one. But a shit load of compliance places don't know the rules. (yeah. I know. Compliance place doesn't know the rule s. Duh)

I sent an e-mail to VTNZ and they said you are correct! Not only that, they sent a page from the entry certification manual that shows you are correct. Amazing! Who says you don't get good service from Government organizations? And what great guys you find on the "Kiwi Biker Forum"!

I've just done my '1982 CX500 last week. Had'nt had a WOF or Reg for about 6 years. I was informed that because it was not pre 1980 it did not have to have a brake compliance, so all I had to do is pay $145.00 for what turned out to be not much more than a standard WOF. I also had to re register and get new plates. Basically fairly easy - just an expensive donation to the establishment.

Why do pre '91 not need a brake declaration but later does ? Seems to me the older the bike the more worn the bits .

CCos 1991 was when they required it at point of entry. Older models, data maybe doesn't exist

This is still the case, after a few emails and a long time spent on the phone with NZTA trying to convince them to tell VTNZ it wasn't required, after multiple people told me I would need it done...

Not needed on pre 1991 which was the date that almost all bikes had a min thickness on the discs.

They will need be in a condition suitable for a wof though. Big lip or warp that will fail a standard wof is no good.
