would almost look at an old three wheel farm bike frame, and start from there in altering , they have a low frame height and easy to cut an fab longer chassic frame work ,

yea thats what I grew up thrashing thats part of what this idea is based on.... and no I wouldn't even consider it, the machine welding on mass produced stuff can be shocking, porus welds, undercut welds, bad penetration etc the other thing is they are designed to handle what maybe 30hp, now while I havn't had it dynoed I'd say it would easily top 150hp na I'll build what I want, its more fun that way

thanks for that vid... theres some real interesting handling if you watch closely he's getting alot of understeer under power, alot more than I thought given his motor is so far forward hmmmm wheres he based might consider a drive to see it in action...

Damm Kiwifriut that thing is sick alot better than the bike conversions I've seen ..... hmmm bastard now you've got me thinking about another trike

Possibly some of the best and worst trikes around - 7 pages of the suckers and none like you describe - your project will be unique

Phil could be worth a chat to. I think he brought it pretty much as you see it.
Also craneman would be worth a PM as well.
His trike is a V8 one but I know he is up on the whole cert stuff.
Gary at metalworx in Welly (04) 38 5113 is another triker that would be worth a call. A wealth of info in the building of tripods!

thanks for that Madmal... I will get in touch with them

Right since I havn't recieved one bad comment on the sports ridding style idea I'm gona roll with it I've got the idea stuck in my head and I want to see this thing rolling... had a bit of a change of plans tho after alot of thinking I'm gona go with the 2 up front (cheers kiwifriut) this design will give me more leeway with handling still going with a rotory engine and manual box, this will be a bit bigger than the one in kiwifruits link, some where round 2 1/2m long and 1 1/2m wide and low ...
I'm gona start it when I've finished the trials truck (about 6weeks), I'm still gona do the other single upfront trike (thats getting shunted down the list a bit ), so I'm after another rotory n box if anyone knows of a complete one loom ecu etc PM me
I'll post up a build thread here if people want.... might be building two yet one of my mates is a disabled ex rider, took out a strainer post when he dumped his bike, I think I could make this work for his one good arm if I fitted power steering

Thank you all for your imput

Oh just on a side note, might have to get my bike licence updated from the L plate (had them for 17yrs now ) don't think 12-1300cc is legal on L plates

    Cheers Reece

    My advice...

    Don't do it...

People who ride trikes are biker wannabees... But lack the skill and coordination for a bike.

in case you didn't read what I've posted I am a biker wannabee.... I've been 17yrs on L plates
Jokes aside I'm building this becouse I have a passion for engineering, I love building different things and possibly so I can have a scary mid life crissis toy (getting close to that time) 4 the books I know full well I'll never use this to its full potential.... now for the dig, aghhh F it I can't be bothered starting a flaming war with someone who lacks the intelligence and effort to read all that is posted and come up with a reason why not, other than a deperate need to put down others who have the strength of character to be different...

Oh and in a sad way you have touched on the one major weak link in the design (that is why I bothered to reply) becouse you are so low to the ground you won't have the vision that you have on a bike the trade off is the extremely low CoG and handling that has the potential to outstrip a bike (based on the rubber contact pattern of the tyres :: and weight transferance) whilst on track this won't be an issue on road this limited vision is gona be a big issue requiring
    skill and coordination
Hey Popelli could I ask a favor, could you ask around the local bike shops see if you could track him down.... I'd love to chat with him

    Cheers Reece

I was looking for car parts and I saw this for sale http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-174408547.htm
It's not what you're talking about, but it's closer than most trikes.
