I usually take bikes on test rides up the northern motorway, along Coatesville-Riverhead, up Old North and Peak to cow cop, turn around and come back the same way - that's about 100km all up. Bit more, maybe. It's good to use the same route all the time, because the differences between bikes become more obvious.
I've never had a shop that's given me grief about disappearing for a couple of hours with a bike. If you're thinking about buying something, you gotta ride it enough to figure out whether you like it, after all!
you're quite right. only colemans and the suzi dealer (somthing about suzi's?) let me take the bike for about an hour. Every other dealer said "10 or 15 mins" maybe its somthing to do with my age?
how on earth can you test a bike in 15 mins. Ripoff barren are the worst at test rides.
didn't quite click to test the gas economy during the test cheers! and that route sounds like a pretty damn good one, its got everything, suburban, motorway and twists!
