Yep that's the end of the road that we use. We asked the farmer about access cause of the private property sign up the road a bit. Seems it is there to keep out "unwanteds" but it not actually legal.

Just to give you an idea,we're staying at Tahuna Beach holiday park.
Tent site is $15 per person per night,24 hour security, security gate at entrance and sounds like they've kicked all the young dickheads out nowdays and made it more of a family place.

Hi, sorry didn't check first post. One thing I'm unclear (I'm kinda slow ) regarding the stop @ Nelson RC on the first night, do I need to book it or is it done by putting my name trhough?

Hi Peril, thanks for the advice I'll look into that one seems reasonable.

The second is the bunk house which has 4 rooms (I think) with 6 bunks per room & boys & girls showers & toilets.

The third building you guys don't need to know about because that's where I'm sleeping Mahahahaha.

The buildings are old but perfect for the adv type crew. Also there is ample room to pitch a tent if you want to do the wild thing all night & not be watched......

You raise a good point Pampa re number of spaces for the two day riders at Lake Rotoroa. I take it from Padmei's post that there is 4 rooms with 6 bunk i.e. a total of 24 beds. This would indicated that there is plenty of beds. I'm not sure how much space there is for gear though so even if every person has two beds, one to sleep in and one to store gear there is still enough beds for the 9 that are currently on the two day list.

I would estimate, and maybe Padmei can help, that there would be space/beds for around 15/18 riders with the remainder of the beds used for gear. I will keep an eye on the list and when the number reaches 15 (if Padmei agrees with this number) the late comers will have to think about tents etc.

It depends on how consistent your fuel consumption is. There is one large hill climb and a few smaller hills. The distance is almost exactly 250km from fuel stop to fuel stop. Having a range of 300kms would be very nice to have but around 280km should suffice (I take no responsibility if you run out though )

Thanks for that K. I'll update the first post. I guess that diesel is more expensive for their annual "maintenance".
