Hi Transalper. Yes, I was only trying to help, I don't often buy petrol in the Hanmer Village, preferring to avoid the tourists, and I didn't know it had closed some time ago. I'm keen for the DB1K to run smoothly, as I expect to be part of the 2009 ride, but I don't want to be counted in the numbers just yet as I'm still sorting out my plan. Cheers.

How bigs your tank? Mine goes on reserve at 400k and then I have about 30 or so k left.

    My tank

Tank is normal KLR size and no dents etc to take up space. Thing is I used to be able to get 400 ks before hitting reserve too but that was when I was mainly road riding, and have just recently realised that the klr handles way better on gravel with a lot of revs so that may have skewed my experiment a bit. Off topic for this thread I know

Spoke with a person tonight that went through the rainbow about two weeks ago. The slip near hells gate has not had a track cut across it yet and it is loose scree. Apparently not to hard to ride though, as there was a motard in the group that managed OK as well. Dozer was onsite ready to work too by the sounds of it. It also sounds like the southern end is badly potholed again.

    Cheers R

    Arrow Sunday Brunch

Had a suggestion that we should have brunch on the sunday for the one dayers (and keen two dayers) similar to what we did after the 2008 run. Plan is therefore to meet on Sunday the 4th, between 1100 and 1200, at at Lambretta's Cafe Bar‎ (located here).

First post has been updated with details as well.

    Cheers R

    Small world time...

Just fixed the computer of a couple who earlier in the year came across a guy on the Dry Weather Road who'd dropped his sump bung

Guess it's back to carrying a small top up tank with you. I've never done 400k on just dirt, it's always been a mixture of both tarmac/dirt/tarmac. You going to do the DB run next year?
