I made one for the CCA last year and this one looks way way better. You must have some engineering skills there....lol
How and where does it mount on your bike?
Some more detail would help and then I can copy it or if you left a bit of detail for me please?
    Many thanks....
It is such a great little size!

Howdy, hope u r recovered from Saturday LOL.

I took some ideas from BusaJim and other sources.
    1. The auxiliary rollers are garden irrigation pipes rolling over some wire, this is the bit that puts the chart close to the top
    2. the main rollers came from a desk lamp which I wasn't using, is where the chart attach
    3. the brand of the 'case' is 'Sistema' (as seen on the pic) bought from Woolworth supermarket is big enough to fit the chart but just, half cm more would be nice but it works fine (obviously haven't done the ride yet, build it for CCA but BM experience decided wasn't for me to do it)
    4. The mount:
4.1 initially I mounted it to the bark buster (left) on the bold that attach to the (near) center of handlebar using some bit of aluminum and plastic (last to give it some dampening) it worked alright but
4.2 for the next one I'd like a position more dakar like so I'm yet to work on the mount. Tried something last week but it was too week and not sure it will hold. You may have better place on your bike for the mount and there is a lot of info on Advrider thumpers around that for kTm

The trickier bit for me was to do the holes so there run parallel since the plastic is really stiff its prone to cracks (wasted one on the process )

I'll post some more pics if that helps or send them to you if no one else is interested

    Cheers,
    Pablo

WW has put up an event on the Calendar here for the BBQ on the eve of the DB1k (2nd feb) at his place.

WW and family are providing salads (BYO meat and drinks) and he needs an indication of numbers so please put your name on the BBQ event (in addition to the appropriate DB1k Calendar event). Remember there is a gold coin koha for the salads.

First post will be updated with the link as well.

LOL - So if all I eat is cow then I'm getting all my necessary greens as well. I'll try that on my mummy next time I see her

Green stuff is good for you... yep well I making an effort with the veges but ya can stick ya salads.....

On another note, was just having a little chuckle thinking about torches.
Seems that after trying out the super light of NigelP's and getting all keen to get one, I've about run out of time and money so there be no super light on my helmet this round.
If you don't know the way and are using roll charts I'd still recommend at least a small torch on ya helmet to light the chart, or maybe you can back light it somehow
I'll be using the GPS so will take a small torch in case I need it for repairs etc but won't have one stuck to the helmet this year.

I know the one, called a GPS12 that looks like below (or GPS12XL which looks similar)?

Have you got a cable for it? You need a cable with a propriety Garmin plug (round plug with four holes in a square for the pins on the GPS) and a serial plug on the other end. I think Map World sells them otherwise they seem to be available from the web i.e. here.

From what I have read on the Garmin website about the GPS12 and the GPS12XL, they can hold routes i.e. like the files I have created for the DB1k but they can only hold limited amounts of data.

Happy to help and can probably spare a hour or so this weekend. Send me a PM when and where it is suitable to meet if you want.

    Cheers R

    Arrow Stickers

Hope you lot want stickers this year. Just shelled out a reasonable ammount of dosh for 50ish stickers. As per other years they will be selling for $5 a pop, first in first served. Any profit will be given to KB (hopefully there will be some).

They are for participation not a completion hence they will be available at the Pre DB1k BBQ on the 2nd. I figure if you mad enough to put your hand up to have ago at the DB1k then you sould be able to prove to others that your a nutter

    Cheers R

My lot have pretty much bailed doing a 2-day ride over Waitangi. After all being in with a grin, plans have changed.

A group of us are still coming down, will do molesworth, rainbow and maybe some of the other tracks and explore some other bits of the top of the south isl that we haven't gotten to yet.

Hopefully next year for the DB1K!

    Have you ridden Onamalutu lately?
Is it still closed(ish) for logging?
