    Thumbs up Onamalutu Section

Zerax and I just had a squizz up Onamalutu tonight. Sadly the ride was too short for me to leech off his 28L megatanker, but the HID spottie he hooked me up with works a treat.

Anyways, there is still logging going on in the forest, although the road itself is physically open. I'd say that we shouldn't have any dramas getting through earlyish in the morning as we are planning. We aren't riding through any working areas but there may still be trucks on the roads.

There were two bridges, these have been blocked off and removed and now have mandatory stream crossings instead. Piece of piss unless it's been raining up in the hills. Hopefully it doesn't, it would take a fair bit to make it un ridable.

    Cheers, Buggs

Thanks for the info on Onamalutu but don't mention rain, its not looking good at this stage. Just hope that the prediction changes in the next few days!!! Everybody better make sure they have good wet weather gear.

At least a couple of days rain BEFORE the 3rd will help keep the dust down. Last time I went through the Molesworth and Rainbow it had been raining beforehand, and the road was just lovely to ride, hardpacked, fast, and NO DUST!

Well then the ride would have to be renamed... to like the Monkey Butt 1000 or something...

I for one will be packing vaseline, ass bandages and get hard pills to go with my stock DR-Z seat....

Sweet as Peachy, no sneaking down to the garage and stealing bits while I'm asleep.

A bit of wet before the event would be nice but a check of metview just now shows a goodun rain storm overnight of the 2nd/3rd with a good bit of it lingering around on the 3rd. As I said above make sure you all have good wet weather gear and possibly a change of undies and socks cause 1000kms in the rain ain't gonna be that fun

Just a quick reminder to all those travelling into Nelson for the DB09...keep your speeds down anywhere within 50km of Nelson, the cops are hammering bikes at the moment, plenty of unmarked and HWY patrol cars out there. Saw 5 separate bikes pulled over last 2 days...stink one boys. Mostly roadies tho, hehehe
