    Hi Nordie,

I was about to book in at the Tahunanui camp ground, but I see you are offering a few berths at your place.
I would like to take a single berth if thats OK? Fri and Sun night.
I will have tent and (very thin) mattress onboard for what its worth.

I am starting my twisted trip south tomorrow (30th) from Tauranga so won't be checking the forum too often.

The seat on on the XT400 is pretty average, so I will probably already have a monkey-butt of my very own by the time I get to Werewolfs. :-) Hate to think what the DB1k will add.

A big thanks in advance to all the organisers and supporters.
See you all at the WW den. Cool.

Better idea - take the roads thems fellas dont travel. We are adventurers after all Good idea on the heads up though. There has been stacks of bikes heading between NN and the north (both in and out) over the past couple of days.

    Cheers R

Just a brief "Good Luck" to you all over the next few days, I will think of you while I'm lying in the sun/rain up here!
Have a great ride guys and remember you've actually got to finish to come first so keep your brains engaged.

    Hi Guys,

I was expecting to join you this Saturday, but due to work commitments that's not possible, so I went yesterday.

Stunning weather all the way, so I hope you get the same on the 3rd/4th.

My bike only requires one stop, so without riding at a risky pace I can maintain a decent average speed, starting and finishing in daylight. Very little traffic anywhere, although in Molesworth I passed a 4WD stranded with two punctures. Don't forget your spare tubes!

Both the Mangatapu and Porika Tracks are in rough condition, with quite decent ruts on the climb up from Maitai Valley. Big bikes without real knobblies might find it exciting, I think.

I second the thoughts on Onamalutu, I doubt there'll be logging on Saturday morning, particularly that early. If you focus on the road, you don't notice the Road Closed sign!

The first ford on Taylor Pass Road had water flowing in it, and the concrete base is smooth and slimey - very slippery.

Very windy at the top of Black Birch in a nor'wester.

The other 4WD tracks (Braeburn, Maruia) are in excellent order, as are all the shingle roads. The climb up to Flora Saddle is very corrugated.

I thought the route notes were pretty good, so thanks for producing and posting them for all. Instruction 105 should read Tapawera Glenhope Road, not Tadmore.

Good luck to all this weekend, I look forward to reading the tales which I'm sure will emerge.

    Raise some dust!

    Bloody burglar, stealing our limelight!
Cheers anyway Dave, thanks for the track reports although I didn't think the Mangatapu was THAT bad, same as the corrugations up Mt Arthur...I guess it depends how you individually set up ya bike. Not normally an issue on the big KTM, we like it rough.
I don't think we're gonna get much rain around Marlborough before Sat, maybe showers on Friday. Roll on Saturday.......

If your backs not right this weekend, TimG and I are still looking at a two day run over Waitangi day and Saturday 7th February.
We are now thinking about just doing our run based out of Christchurch with one stop around Murchson or where ever.
At this point there is no support planned or accommodation worked out.

I'm also still going up in time for the one day run with the rest of them this coming Saturday.
