And this is different from normal, how?

Actually I'm surprised you could form words at all through that great big grin!

Agreed. We could have cut a couple of number of stops and shortened a couple of others.

Yer yer - if you know what I mean then thats all that matters. I just passed 5th and 6th form English and that was enough. Much prefer numbers or physics.

Yep the smile was embarrassingly large.

You should have maybe said something then? I like the idea of not being up so late at night.
It's all a bit of a blur, definitely think our Blenheim and Howard Valley stops were excessive.
Didn't someone say we were ahead of schedule at Blenheim and we could afford to back off and conserve energy a little?
If I go 1 day again I would indeed want to get a few more sections done before sunset in the hope that I'd be finished at a more reasonable time of night.
I'll have the same old bike but just about to get a new helmet myself, and right now with the hype building feel tempted to go one day again (only to see how it would be in the new helmet of course).

Technically, having ridden the route a few times now, familiarity should help it be a little better for me this time.
Maybe I will if I get back from my North Island trip again in time (but that's just crazy talk really).
Still keen for 2day Waitangi weekend.

Also I'd stop at the Shell? on the left when we get in to Blenheim next time instead of the Mobil on the right.
    Cheers

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time, didn't know how it would pan out. Got a much better idea now. Just thoughts for fine tuning, really.

And it isn't a race, finishing was more important to us than finishing as fast as we possibly could, eh?
    Cheers,
    Colin

Yep. must remember that all the roads and tracks have two way traffic so I wouldn't want to ride any faster, but I wonder if fine tuning stops to get in a little earlier would leave me fresher or more burned out. I tend to think fresher as I personally fade more quickly later in the evenings whether I been working hard earlier or not.
To ride faster would tire me out more and be riskier than shortening stops.

Bugger, the more I think about it the more I can see myself having another one day go at it. Maybe I should just stick my name on the calender.

Resistance is futile, you know you want to.

The question is, who will crack first?

The lights are more likely to be blue and red when the Busa's involved.

TA it sounds like you are twisting your own arm!

So apart from my group of lads, is there anyone else wanting to do the 2-dayer over Waitangi weekend?

Yep, still up for that. Want to do it as two dayer sometime and then (Waitangi Day Friday and saturday, ride back home on Sunday for work Monday) suits fine.

    Arrow Pre Ride Event

Was thinking last night that we should have a pre ride event for everybody to meet (seeing as we don't get to meet afterward) and to have a bit of a briefing. Last year we had a BYO BBQ at one of the NN locals house but this may not be suitable this year. I'm looking for suggestions be they a BYO BBQ at somebody's place around NN, got to a pub somewhere, ...... Feel free to PM me if you have any ideas but want to ask questions first.

Oh and remember for all you out of towners that the Nelson Port Races are on the 2nd Jan. Good entertainment for the day but don't be getting sun burnt and dehydrated the day before the DB1k!

    Cheers R
