I see that there is a trail ride just south of Whangamata this Sunday. ( 31 Aug ) Has anyone done one of these, if so was it worth the trip?
I am told that it is only a 13km loop so it sounds a little short!
Cheers.......

Its a good little track, more of a challenge then most but when i went the track was basicly a goat track. That was january. Will be very dusty if it is dry and very rutted if they havnt fixed it up since all the rain.
Can't do sat morn. The last time I went to the bike park (the first one) I was on one of the first prolink XR 200's. Factory even back then.
Back on topicish...
Whangamata trail ride:
The track was an interesting little challenge, muddy bits, rutty bits, clay hills and damp downhills including a bit in the forestry that was wet, slippery , boggy and provided a nice soft landing (I tried , just to make sure). The last stretch thru more open forestry was fast sweeping uphills and downs, good fun as long as you remembered to turn the corners.
The main track was 18kms with a half way cut off, a novice loop and kids track, the club is well set up with a permanent building for buying your day pass (cheap at $25!) and providing food and drink.
Certainly worth the trip down there, it's a far more interesting and challenging ride than a lot of the more open trail rides and in my case proved a great test of fitness, or lack off!
Give it a go, you lot!
