Post Coromandel Adv ride 29/30 Nov

    UPDATE 13 Nov
Meeting at Kopu pub carpark at 9:30 for 10 leaving. (as i will be riding down from F.Bay you will have to find your own way to Kopu)

BBQ dinner will be supplied for $15 including B & Egg breaky if you require it. I will cater to those that have signed on at calander. (there will be plenty)

I am also going to bring beer/wine/fizzy (if you have prefrence let me know) Beer is $2 for 1st 2 $1 there after.

We are camping at Fletchers Bay so you will need to bring everything. There is a toilet & (cold)shower.

The route will be, Kopu-Tapu-Coroglen-309-Coro Township(lunch at pub east end of town)

Then up to Fletchers Bay. Should arrive about 4ish.

    Sunday
Depending on who wants to do what we can loop round to Stony Bay.Then back to Coro Town.

Then over the hill and on to Opitonui Rd-Wade Rd and Coroglen(maybe rest stop at pub will see, time etc) After that main drag and back to Kopu Pub. Think that will be enough as some have a long way to get home. I did find some more after Coroglen but only one online map showed them and think they may be forestry roads.

Time to get the camping gear out??

Thought I'd try to get a camping trip in before the usual X'mas rush of bbq's & company Do's and not seen a ride posted for Coromandel in a while so why not.

Along the line of Rosies ride would be more of a curise/social ride as the Coro roads are not that hard and even road bikes could do the trip to Fletcher Bay.

Did a recky ride yesterday and i couldn't ride to the top as a metre wide ditch was dug to put drain pipes in about 3k from Fletcher Bay.

    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...13#post7782813

The ride would start at Kopu, do Tapu-Coroglen Rd up to 309 Rd. Lunch break in Coro township then up to Fletcher Bay.

Option B would be to do same but stay in a camp ground with cabins etc. Will try to set up the poll to see what would be prefered or just post your opinions.

Now if we get enough i will sort a car to take up a bbq, food, booze etc so will see what interest is. Will take fishing gear(see above!) in the hope a fish dinner......

This would be an easy day trip for those with limited time and even road bikes keen on a little adventure. Gravel section to Fletcher Bay is only 27k and very easy.

    Is now up on calander

Fletcher bay would also be a nice spot probably less populated but a bit more basic in it's facilities??

You know me and remembering place names.........

Fletcher Bay is at the very end ah? Didn't have it on my map so used Port J as general area. That is the one where we will end up but I couldn't get that far to check out what was there. Also the camp ground at Port J is closed at the moment for upgrades.

Sigh, I'd love to do the Corro one more time before heading home down south, oh well.

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

The camp ground I was thinking of is in Coromandel township and pub is across the road
The pub also has rooms so depending on numbers..........

If we end up staying in Coromandel Town it would give us time to double back to Port Charles/Stony Bay & back via Kennedy Bay.

If I can make it and the weather is great my vote is for the basic camping option at fletcher bay. Bung some sausages on the barbie down some bourbons and talk some shit around a camp fire and crawl into the tent and listen to the waves splashin on the shore........

Cary - Can I bring the family??

Course you can, give Paula someone to talk to

If there are enough people to warrent taking bbq i would prolly go up on the Friday to set things up and follow Paula on the bike then meet in Kopu Sat morning. Will see what happens.

Should camping be the go will try to get a big tent (Bro's) so will be spare space.... again, all depends on demand.
