I was interested in this until I read the ad properly.....it really is a trail ride for big trail bikes, not an adventure ride.

I don't fancy stuffing the 990 down a cliff and even if I "legalise" the 200exc I don't have enough range to do the ride....buggered both ways!

Entry form states it is suitable for larger adventure bikes such as F650 with knobblies, and it does have a seperate adventure route.

But some off road riding experience would certainly be required and it is not a soft ride.

Let me quote for you, from their advert in Kiwirider.......
"this year there will be a seperate "adventure" route suitable for pillion riders on trail bikes...and larger adventure bikes such as F650's with knobblies"
    and
"We recommend a full on enduro machine for this option!" refering to the trail ride bit.

This, to me, is a trail ride not suitable for big bikes! Would be a lot of fun on the right machine tho.

I have been speaking to John ( the ride organizer ) and the adventure ride is suitable for larger bikes including KTM990 - BMW R1200 etc as long as they are fitted with suitable knobbly type tyres such as Tkc`s - Deserts ..........
