    Fit spring to stand, fit other end of spring to frame, with stand not bolted on. Offer up stand to frame lever into place, bolt up, summon ambulance. Your broken fingers will heal surprisingly swiftly. And the titanium inserts will be invaluable next time you have to do it.

    I find a tie or some kind, wrap round the spring and some other object, put small screwdriver in the middle and twist till the spring can be put over the stand... works fer me

    Hahaha -- almost as good as that, just says: `Check that the return spring is in good condition and not likely to fail whilst the machine is in use. If stretched, cracked, or badly rusted, the spring should be renewed.'

    I tried your way too Ixion, but no cigar. Not physically strong enough to hold the stand there with one hand while I put the bolt in from the other side.

    Anyway it's on now, only bleeding in three places.
