Thumbs up My weekend in Auckland...

    it started in June...
things were getting me down and i needed a change, i wanted to run and hide...
then ...grab a seat to Auckland for $100 return, I was on the phone to Buellbabe, come on up matey, was the reply...

fast forward to a month ago....phone goes, hey AJ, start packing, your boy is off to Portugal...

    fark,

what about the trip to Auckland????

on the Phone to BB, "hey babe, cannot afford to come"

fast forward to 2 weeks ago... on phone to BB " hey babe.. fark it, i coming up, organize something!"

well organize she did!!! the latest "chipped" 1125r (buell)... AND a speed triple... demo bikes for 6hrs

i arrive in Auckland last Thursday night.. some how air NZ had lost one of my bags,

LUCKILY not my leathers!!! so i just had to go out and get a new tooth brush and neck warmer...( the bag was found on Friday..)

on friday morning we were off to AMPS to pick up the demo bikes and to meet up with mike (blackbuell?)he sold me my Buell...he also has the 1125r..

as we took off from AMPS i couldn't help but think the new buell was a LOT heavier than mine, but as the miles went by i adjusted to it nicely, mike wanted to swap and try the new "chipped" one... first thing he did?... well lets say that the front tyre didn't much heat into it for a while...
all too soon mike had pulled over and said that he HAD to go and do some work, so i was back on the new buell following BB on the speed triple,
BB seamed to morph into the bike, it was as thought they were one, she knew the roads and it showed, think we were on HWY 16,
i had read reports of a cop that loved to talk to bikers on this road, but that didn't seam to worry us, we were more worried about riding safety .. the excess was $2.5k.. but that didn't mean we took it easy, we were testing the bikes, the buell had 1700k on the clock when i picked it up...(and over 2000k when i dropped it off) keeping up with BB was not hard on th buell, but if i had a lesser bike i am sure she would have been having to slow down for me... if you ever get the chance to ride with her, be prepared to bring ya game face!!! we were both going hard!
At one stage BB seamed to slow, I took it as an indication to take the lead but as I didn't the roads I tried to make the buell flow around the corners and there were plenty of them!!! soon the speed increased and the corners became sharper... but eh Buell was not putting a wheel wrong... no matter what I did.!!
we stopped somewhere for gas and we swapped bikes...

the speed triple was very light!!, the up right sitting was a little hard to get used to and to add to my troubles BB had gotten into the grove on the Buell... the corners were taken at speeds that ... well, were above the posted.. but both the bike loved it, now time was against us, we had to have the bike home by 3pm... BB showed me how to lane split Auckland style, at one stage there was the tiniest gap between the car and an island, the front wheel of the buell made it, but the rear was off the ground as it hit the island, she didn't slow, she didn't even notice!!! the bike handling was amazing!!! the speeds we were doing i cannot put here ... lets say we were ONLY (ONLY)1/2hr late..
we dropped them off and the sales rep asked where the road works were...... until then we had not looked at the bikes... they were filthy!!! hahahah ...sorry, got to go....

after getting on a buss to a board meeting that BB had to go to.. ( a pub, now that was a surprise..not) i met some of her work mates and i got told about BB... even more when she was away at the toilet...
that night we had a couple of bourbons and discussed the day, it started early... and we were still up at 12 talking about the day, we were both buzzing from such a great day ..

what more can anyone ask? but to enjoy doing something WITH a great friend, who enjoys it also???
just before bed time i asked BB " what's the plan for tomorrow?"... err no plan YET...

next thing i know, it is morning, the jug just clicked off and i was being asked if i want tea or coffee !!!
BB's mate Kath turned up the night before and we all took BB's mutts for a walk... there we discussed the day...

next thing a ride was organized and i was to ride a sporty custom !!! 1200cc Harley...”here AJ, see what you think of this bad boy" said Kath ( it was her bike)... the first ride was a short one to the pub, where we met up with another of BB's and kath's mate Don and Vicky, both were on big block hogs, Don took Kath on his bike and next thing i know, BB is heading out the drive and away.... vicky has a 1400cc custom( correct me BB)the sporty was pushed hard to keep up, the front was an issue, it was too hard? but it kept sliding.. nothing major ... but a 23" front is toooo big. i was assuming that i should be able to go around corners as fast as the 1400..... right???? wrong! the ground clearance on my bike was a LOT less... we finally made it to the Puhio pub, where we met up with about 50 other bikers of all kinds, where the girls sat around and talked about vibrators and attachments.... Don and I were.... NOT amused!!!!

met up with a few Kber's!!.. I was asked out for a ride the next day, but unfortunately, I was not on my bike and I was there with another group.. thanks any guys, it was great to say hi!!

we left the Puhio and hooned to the next pub, I had only one bourbon all day... !!!
there I met a guy with “boof” on his helmet... what a guy... old as the hills, but hell, he can ride!!!

we left there, it was getting late in the afternoon, onto BB's old stomping ground, the poor old sporty was given a workout!!

    hell BB can ride!!!

finally home, there was a party that was arranged... but we were home... and the couch was soooooooo ZZZZZZZZZZzzzz

next thing, that dam click again as the jug clicked off, this day (Sunday) was going to be my highlight of the weekend, I was to get to ride BB's BIKE... with her on the back..as Kath wanted her bike and Ian (Kath's man I think) was on the Aprilla.

After a while of following the sporty, BB bumped her boob's into my back.. I (thinking like a man ) thought she meant me to speed up... as the Aprilla was slowly getting away. So I took off after it, we caught up with it... think he was slowing lol but he was push the Aprilla hard sometimes and BB just sat on the back and didn't wobble or bitch once...
but when we got to the Puhio pub (again) she DIVED for the bar and downed 2 bourbons, 2 wines within 5 min... not sure why till she told me that as I was having to break all the time for the sporty, she thought I was doing it on purpose.. so she thought she would have me on... woops..... hahahahahaha

this last weekend was too short.
    Thing I have learnt

when at BB's,, take a pillow
when at BB's and the spare bed is taken, the couch is soooo nice
the new Buell is great.. but I wont be getting one any day soon
the speed triple... now if I had the $$ I would have 2 bikes in the shed
the sporty custom... was so much fun
I have a great friend... thanks Buellbabe!!!

Good shit ! Nice write up man !!!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

I have attached a mao of the ride we did with the demo bikes.
Up 16 onto 1 as far as Waipu...AJ forgot to mention the Brynderwyns...oh boy that was fun...
We got stuck behind a few cars and a big truck for the first stretch. Then the first passing lane came up and I got past the cars but not the truck (well you know how tight and twisty it is eh?). Then we went around the next corner and I could see clear zigzaging road ahead of the truck so with no hesitation I went for it on the Triumph! Yee F**ken HA!. I was over the hill and nearly at the straights before AJ caught up...When you get a good run at it those hills are a lovely piece of road :-)

Anyway we then turned right at Waipu and followed the coast road down to Mangawai, STUNNING SCENERY! From there we took the shortcut (?) bypass along some narrow country roads that brought us back onto #1 just before the Dome Valley. Quick hoon out to Leigh to The Sawmill for a devine feed of panfried snapper before an even quicker hoon back to Auckland...BRILLIANT DAY! BIG THANKS to Geoff at AMPS.

AJ was fortunate enuf to be in the company of the 3 founder members of Slappas MC on Saturday and us girls felt obliged to explain how life REALLY works... hence the convo about Vibrators!!! Oh and AJ... Don wasn't bothered at all, he is our minder and is well used to such silliness. Hey girls just gotta have fun LOL.

Must say that being on the back of my own bike was an experience but once I realised that I could get shitfaced and not have to worry about riding it became waaaaaaaaaaay more fun. Cos chasing the Aprilia had a couple of scary moments for me, I closed my eyes at one point and then decided it was better with them open and forced myself to relax and just go with it.

Ha ha ha the old 'brake so ya get tits against ya' trick??? I was sure that was what he was doing so I thought I would give him a couple of pushes to let him know I knew what he was doing... FARK! he thought I meant GO FASTER!!!!!

    hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Awesome weeekend and AJ you are gonna find that hard to top when I next visit Welly. For a start I expect to ride 4 different bikes!
Oh yeah...sorry about the pillow thing...but at least my sofa is comfy eh? And Ash (Kaths Staffy) didn't snore toooooooo much LOL.

oops forgot to add this pic as well...

Oh yeah and another thing AJ...Kath's bike is a custom Sportster (1200cc), Vicki's is a Dyna Superglide (1440cc).
And you're not wrong about the Sporty handling badly, there is something just not right with the front end.

Sorted now...tell ya in an email...

100% agreement there. For a rider, being a pillion has to be one of the most terrifying experiences to endure.

    That, and riding a Honda........................
