I discovered a bloke who will import me a new YZF-R125. (Daughters bike for next year.)
Why is this a dumb idea ? No spares for it. No warranty. What else ?
Any comments on the resale value ?

It's not a dumb idea. I talked to a dealer when I first saw it ages ago, the only reason is it's a 125 and they reckon sales wouldn't be good enough, and it's only for the european market.

Yammy so build quality will be good, if problems arise I'm sure the nz dealers can look after ya. Nothing wrong with the idea, and your daughter would be a very lucky person to have one. The only one in nz.

I think they get them in aus, and if thats the case parts wont be to hard to get. If I wanted a 125 thats where id be going, they look awsome.

Well that is the big unknown. I don't even know if it will go straight through compliancing - I expect it will, but you never know if there is some stupid rule that makes the tyre guards 0.1mm too narrow or some bullshit like that. Normal compliancing is $400 ish.Originally Posted by breakaway

Could be cost prohibitive in small numbers. Find yourself a source for parts etc before it arrives and save yourself the hassle in the long run.
De-restricted and with a good rider, I'd say that that would be a fiesty little contender.

Look a shitload better than the cbr125, then again even an fxr is wider, saw a cbr125 parked next to an fxr, made the fxr look wide!
