    Decisions, decisions

    Hi everyone,

Well I have to make a hurried decision in the next few days and would appreciate any advice. My friend is selling his 1998 VFR 800 with 80K on the clock. He is the only NZ owner and has had it serviced regularly (no damage has been done). At the moment he commutes from the Kapiti coast everyday and that is the bulk of the Km's. He has been offered $7.5K from a dealer, but will sell for 7K. My problem is, I am only on a learners and cannot get my full until August. What this means is that I will have to sell my 250 to come up with the purchase price and be forced to store the bike until Aug (when I assume my insurance company will want to know me again) :disapint: .

The bike I had envisaged the replace the ZXR was a CBR 600 (as I enjoy sports bikes), but I am wondering if this bike would suit me and whether in the circumstances it is a good deal having known the bikes full history or am I just too excited about a new bike?

    Any advice appreciated

I had a tough choice between a VFR800 and the TL. the VFR is a great bike, some would describe them as a bit *boring*, but I think that's cause they do everything well, and don't really have any vices. They sound cool, wheelie easily, pillion well, are economical, and have Honda reliability. On the flip, the TL has a few vices, wheelies well, is not that economical, wakes people up at 0400am when I get home, but hey - what the hell.....

Stick to your 250 till august. Start saving now also and by the time you get your full licence you will be able to afford another bike that you will then be able to legally ride.

Not worried at all about getting caught. In all honesty I would probably store it and ride it in a carpark every once in a while. Not ideal really. More concerned at this stage about insurance! If only I could fast track my full :disapint:

The Viffer hasn't been voted the best all around bike in the world for nothing dude. Boring it's not, unless you're coming off a balls out sports bike, which you're not.

    Besides - it's a Honda.

Enquire with local driving schools... in another thread this was discussed and I think someone identified a place in Auckland that does advanced rider training, (one day course to get your restricted, same again for full). There's also a company, Ride Rite in Christchurch that offers this service.

Some caveats apply but who knows, there's probably an outfit in Wellington that could help you.

Your stuck with a 250 until you get your full licience, thats life. But on the good side is that you can start saving for that CBR600rr now and be part way there when the time comes.

Let it go. Where there's one 'bike, there's another.

Relax and think about it when you are legal.
