    Input please - Uni project!

    Hey folks,

I'm working on a product development project as part of my engineering degree and am looking at producing a chain cleaning device. I've got a couple of designs and so on that I would like to discuss and take some feedback on.

If anyone is around this evening and could spare a couple of minutes (its really not a biggy) to have a bit of a chat via msn (or if your on the shore i'll buy you a beer? ) I'd really appreciate it!

I'm looking for a reasonably broad cross section of the biking community, including dirt bikers, new bikers, and riders of anything that isn't rubber band powered!

contact me via PM, 021 1690906, or msn: ben (at) nztt.net

    Cheers!

Yeah thanks , I should have provided a couple more details:

The current concepts revolve around clip on designs that don't require a track/centre stand to make effective use of. Major selling points are speed and ease of use, low price. Oh and all the fantastic savings you get when your chain/sprockets last considerably longer...

Have done a fair bit of research on whats out there (particularly overseas) and improved on a couple of existing designs.

hey mate. post up an idea or two here and id be happy to provide some input (nigh on done eng. down south now).

Chain cleaning is a interesting one. Prob may be in the type of lubricant and friction. or you could do a multipurpose cleaner lubricator.

Something to consider is why do you want a cleaner and what are you cleaning, (i.e. lube = good, too much = mess, carpet fibres = shitty lube)

either way uni projects are crap. thank god for the day they end. esp. year long ones.

just had to rant. good luck with it mate

They are already available, I have just purchased one and am awaiting it's arrival by courier from another KB member! (Duck 01)

Do you want some information from me about it when it arrives? Cheers John.

Yeah there are a couple of products we've found overseas. Which one have you picked? Is it a kettenmax style device?

Due to budget/beer drinking abilities, we've been unable to purchase samples of the existing products, but we think we've found enough things to improve upon to make a worthwhile unique product.

Cheers for the offers of help! Check pms.

As I said, I haven't tried them, and I have heard a couple of people swear by them. At the moment I don't think any of the shops here are bringing them in, and on that basis alone there is room for a product.

    Dude, major bummer.

Been a while, hope it's not too serious.

Won't stop you working on the project I guess, good luck.
