I wrote off my first bike - CB175 - when I T-boned a car. It (the bike) ended up with trashed forks and front wheel (front wheel ended up beside the engine), broken headlight, instruments, etc., wrecked frame, dented tank, and the engine was a bit sad (rocker cover was wrecked when the frame bent and ripped the top engine mount out).
But the guy who bought the wreck totally rebuilt it, and for not much (apart from a lot of elbow grease). He bought a CG175 and swapped bits over, rebuilt the engine (the camchain was knackered, and had eaten some of the engine casting). Ended up not as good as new (as it was now a CBG175), but better than before I trashed it.

Wrote off my VFR750 in 2003, but it was rebuilt by kerryg, as it was almost entirely expensive cosmetic damage. Spectrum said $7800 worth, Kerry said a LOT less than that.

Here are the before and after photos.

Was that an air bag on your VFR750FL??? mine didn't have one of those... i think

RZ250 - snapped that sucker right behind the steering head, when I hit a car. It didn't belong to me, neither...
    I had a PE175 stolen too...in 1984. It's still out there, I'll find it one day..

Nah, it was put on there by the kind person who scraped the VFR up off the road while I went for an ambulance ride. It was holding sundry broken bits, if I recall.
If it was an airbag, it would've been useless anyway, as I needed one large airbag on each side, deployed before the collision.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Well lets see, killed the TS185 3 x, but rebuilt it then in the end sold it as a bitza.
blew the innards of an RG to a billion peices, writing the bike off the road.
Need new piston, rings, bearings (all of em), water pump, sleave, head, chamber, power valves....you get the picture - looked like the bike was infected by the ebola virus, ok on outside, mush on inside.
Then my GB, was totalled. Will find the pic. Never ride in the bus lanes folks - cos car drivers only check for buses there.

In my case it's what bike havent i destroyed:

Suzuki GT50: Thrashed, jumped, burnouts, wheelied to withen an inch of it's life, then dismanteld and the engine ended up in a go kart, which again got thrashed, jumped............

Kawa ZXR250: After binning it numerous times, WT finished it's miserable life in a drunken rolling burnout into a seized gearbox effort.

TL1000S: This was the one that got away, lowside at manfeild was as bad as it got for this one, before trading it in.

GSXR600: Owned it from new to four weeks, written off in a big way, repair bill round the $22000 mark, didnt leave much untouched.

TL1000S: After the disapointment of my 1st TL, i lowsided it out in waihi at 90ish kph, then not happy with the effort looped it at high speed destroying it, but not as bad as the gixx, as it will live again, god help us/me.

NSR250SP: Havent riden it yet, but stay posted, i might just kick it over in the garage for good measure.

    More to come......................

I had a fairly good go at my MVF4. It was a few dollars away from being written off but got repaired instead. I ended up buying a new Brutale rather than wait 6 months for parts from Italy. I gather the bike has been sold as a project for one of the shops.

Pic attached of it in happier days....

Funny you should mention that - I've got some new leathers just begging to be scrubbed in..

maybe I should put a cam on board to heighten the risk factor?

Only as far as the nearest deserted industrial area.

Might trailer it so I can get it home in case I blow the tyre.

Anyone one got any hints on how not to incinerate your bike doing a flaming wheelie?

It's a shame the kids are still on holiday, else I'd find some 16 year old school girls to show off in front of. :love2:

    Right on, what a list,
    Rock and Roll

Admire the dedication, and doing it to almost new and shiny machines deserves extra points :spudwave:
