Suprised no ones started this one yet so thought I would do it, I do find this to be verging on corrupt to protect there own.

I'm not surprised they resort to protecting their own - no one else will! NZ Police are treated very poorly. They're human too and deserve to be treated humanely.

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised.

But it is not "verging on corruption". It *is* corruption, plain and simple. It's also pretty much the norm.

So far just accusations...reserve comment till charged and found guilty/sentenced.

As ALWAYS... the actions of a few, cast a shadow over the majority...

"Just accusations" maybe, but accusations in a formal report by a judge. That goes well beyond "mere accusation"

And do you really think that, with that many senior plods in the frame, anyone will be charged ? Dream on.

OK. We'll wait till 5pm today . That's when it is officially released. (It was to be released August 7th, the cops tried to squelch it). Do you really think they are going to be able to change it in the next 6 hours ?

Unauthorised access to the computor is a "serious misconduct" matter and jobs will be on the line.

Yet again... Surprised the Dept tried to slow this up, when they were so keen to hand out "Porngate" to the papers.... This is somewhat more serious.

Hey, I'd like to criticise the actions of some of the country's lowest ranking police.

Motherfuckers keep giving me speeding tickets.

What are you on about? Not all of us read the news every day, y'know. Some superintendant get caught boning a 111 dispatcher while she was taking calls or something?

Edit: Ah, I see Nasty posted a link.

Porngate only came down on ordinary coppers. HQ didn't care if they dropped a lowly rozzer or two in the shit. This one implicates the high ups. And Porngate was inherently selflimiting. Whereas they (the boyos with the silver braid) know that this one could open up the whole steaming mess that is the Police high command.

The way I read the article, the issues are:

    (a) cops appear to have been moonlighting as private investigators, most particularly for ACC, and letting their Police and PI work overlap to the mutual advantage of each;

    (b) some cops may have sworn misleading or even false affidavits to get search warrants, etc, presumably because they were operating off 'gut feeling' rather than good evidence.

Neither appears to paint 'high command' as a 'steaming mess'. More a matter of individual senior cops allowing cynicism and pragmatism to override the honourable fair-play ideals they probably lost decades ago.

I doubt you'll find any police force anywhere in the world where that doesn't happen.

Wrong. A Superintendant, a couple of Inpectors, (ie high ranking - boyos with silver braid) some Senior Sergeants, Sergeants and Constables in the mix....
