Tyre change and refuel in 12 seconds

MCN post on you tube covering the Suzuka 8 hour. At the start it shows a Honda team practice a pit stop. Quite impressive really.

Id say its for real,read an article on the day/night endurance races in Europe and they do everything fast,bikes are set up so everything can be done fast.The rear wheel for instance,chain and sprockets dont move during a wheel change "super QD captive sprocket".Dont have to line up the axle route etc,mounting guides allow the self locking axle to be pushed in and tightened without fuss.Even the wheel gun is guided by a cone cover,result being a rear wheel change done in 10 seconds,cant imagine the guys doing the front would take longer.

The front is clipped in , the ones I have seen still have a bolt though ,,,,,

I watched one of the six hour endurance races at Manfield in the early eighties... the Wellington suzuki team, on Katanas, were doing 16 second pit stops (rear wheel and gas) . They had done 14 seconds in practice...

Perhaps its not possible on your SV but as 98TLS said - these bikes are purpose built.

They didn't change the tyres... they changed the wheels.

I wonder if the local bike shop is up for it?

If you want to buy a spear set of rims and drop them off to the shop a couple of days beforehand. Go for it.

At the last Castrol Six Hour (?1987?), our team (Mens Warehouse Racing) managed a rear wheel change and refuel on the FZR1000 in 18 seconds.

There were four of us, I see six in that clip (although they did do two wheels).
