Question So, white is the new black…

I recently heard a comment stating that white is apparently the new black (this was used in the context of a Lamborghini). If you take this statement and apply it to bikes, I would have to agree with it considering we’re seeing the bikes becoming predominantly more white and manufacturers suddenly bringing them out when we’ve never really seen them in that colour before. Just take the 848, for example.

Here are a few of the 08/09 models to prove my point:

So, what's the verdict. Is white the new black?

Yeah, me too. The red looks like a Ducati, but the white gives the lines more sharpness, makes it look more aggressive and timeless.

I can think of the Busa, RC8 and Z1000 that come in orange. What others are you aware of?

I have to agree that white looks good on some of those bikes, the 848 being one of them. However I just had a look at some white Z1000 pics and they are definatly not pretty.

the RC8 looks better in mags than in the flesh. It has a cheap looking orange plastic fill panel below the tank, and it's a different colour. $30k+ for a bike, and they couldn't get the bits to match?

I'm making some panels (mouldings from the stock gixer fairings) out of carbon, the plan is to have a base that I can do some custom paint without screwing the stock panels. Plan is white with silver/gray graphics (just not sure what). I like a lot of the custom bikes in the US, didn't until I saw some in real life, the paint is very cool. Check out thumbnail below...

I'm sure someone would just love the white Z1000!

I was in two minds about whether to buy the white RSVR or get a black/red one. Now I've got the white one, I'd own another in a flash because I've grown to love it.

White definitely needs to be offset against something, be it the engine or decals.

White fairings, black frame, wheels, etc. White and polished frame doesn't work so well. It's a contrast thing (this is written by a guy with polished rimu floors, stark white walls and ceilings, and silvery/grey curtains - in other words, taste impaired...).

Yeah, but what to do. The white hayabusa with the silver graphics looks good to me, I want to have a candy / metallic flame ghosted onto the white. Not gaudy, but subtle. My CBX has candy apple red on black, done in the stok colour scheme. My gixer is deserving of more extravagance...

Any ideas? Someone suggested the 4 horsemen of the apocolypse, but I think he forgot to take his meds.
