Help with high-km Hayabusa

Hey there,

I'm new to the forum and would like some advice. I'm looking to buy a 2003 Hayabusa, it's done 50,000km and just want to know if there's anything I should look out for?

I'm not new to biking as I used to have a Yamaha Fazer thou, just not sure about a bike that's done this many ks before.

Hardly run in I think you'll find
A large motor like that is unlikely to have been under much stress. Correct servicing with good oil should see 4x that distance easily.

Get is checked out by a mechanic for obvious abuse but is sounds sweet to me.

if it was a car it wouldnt be classed as high km till 200km ,so why do people think that 80 km on a bike is high ,
50 km is f-ck all, rip into it

See if you can get it's service history, for piece of mind if nothing else.

I'm doin 20k a year average since gettin litre plus bikes. A dude bought his busa same time as me here in Chch and put 30k on his after a year (from new).It should have service records up until the 24k service at least.
Anyway they are a dream! you'll love it. So many sites dedicated to the Busa too.

Maybe its because most sportsbikes dont reach anywhere near 100k as thats a huge amount of hooning and fooooking neeeeowing without crashing - and of course a little bit of damage these days means a right off.

Mine's at 95k & running like a dream. People have a mental block when they see a high mile large bike. I would expect most bikes larger than 1L would see at least 220,000km with regular basic maintenence before any rebuild was required.

I agree, my 99' BBird has just done 100 000km & still runs like a dream, mechanic that I take it to has told me to keep up regular servicing ( as mentioned in this tread ) & I will see many more km's yet..... add a scott oiler to it if it does'nt have one already these are a god send for the chain & spockets.

I'vbe been talking to a guy from the UK , he's got 90'000 miles on his 99 and it's going well still, thats around 150 in K's.... guess the thing to look at is the usual, bearings, service history etc, have'nt had mine that long to qualify.

Had 30 minutes today on my cobbers '08 Busa complete with Yoshi pipes, all new between ChCh and Little River, wrong end of the spectrum I know...but it was fun !
