    Here's some weird shit.

I've just sold an nice new SV650SK4 to a chap. (You don't know him so don't ask)

Now, we've got two Blue ones in stock so I go and grab the chassis numbers to ensure the correct one gets PDd.

The last four digits of one are 4021 and the other 4022. Can you imagine the odds of two bikes starting on the production line in Japan, still being parked right next to each other here now?

I almost don't want to break them up!

Wouldn't have thought the odds were that long.

I mean, production will be done in batches based on orders from distributors and/or forecasted requirements. Bikes will be warehoused and shipped in bundles to order. Suzuki NZ orders 50 SVs, say, and they get scheduled into a production run, crated and shipped. WMCC is waiting for stock and gets the first two out of the container.

I would have thought that there was MORE chance of them having sequential chassis numbers than otherwise.

[Edit: well, I *know* it works that way for consumer electronics products. Maybe motorcycle production is a vastly different thing...]

    Smart arse.

Burst my bubble why don't ya. Actually, it's the first consecutive chassis numbers we've had since we had computer records which is a fairly long time.

if you get to Mt Eden bikes, Mike's green '04 636 demo bike is my bike's bro.. 1 digit out on the rego and chassis (I thunk).. I'm trying to get my bro to buy it, but my bro is a few grand short, a leg short, and a license short.. but we're working on it.. Must admit tho, I thought it was a long shot, so can sympathise your excitement..

You'd swer they came off the production line then parked up next to one another in storage, an order comes in for two bikes, they both get pulled from the parking lot straight after one another, boxed up and sent to you wouldnt you?

You should get one of the buyers to try the "hard engine break in" method and then dyno test them both afterwards!!!

Punching in rego numbers, chassis numbers and speedo readings all day I get a few coincidences too - often the 6 digit chassis and speedo readings are some sort of reversal or very close....I think I've already punched it in or some other confusion for my poor brain.I gotta laugh at the number of times 666 turns up in the rego numbers of christians.
