I used to get sore wrists but have sorted that with bent arms relaxed I know what you mean though but its more that being over 6ft I find even on my 900 it feels cramped up and visability is impaired. I think If I had a higher blade it would suit? the thread starter (sorry can't back look) seems too tall for his bike its a fact that most Jap bikes even the big ones are built for 5 ft 6 ..70kg riders and actuallly a triumph might be the go? having said that some of the recent offerings from Japan seem to fit better. I rode an SV1000 recently and was pleasently suprised by the eurgonomics.
anyone like to give me one for Christmas?

just took the bike out for a bit of a ride and i noticed that i start out sitting up with a straight back and all but as the ride continues i tend to slouch more and more till at the end or somewere in the middle i am just relaxed and comfortable

Hey SS, your main goal is trying to be comfy on the bike and be relaxed. Anything you can do to achieve this will only help you.
Posture most certainly depends on the bike of course. If we are talking sports bikes here then here are some ways to improve your riding with just your posture.
Most common fault that most riders who use the hang off technique face while at max lean is trying to hold on to the bike with the handlebar (or clip-on to be more correct) closest to you too tightly which in return makes you pull on them. That means that your front wheel will try to point into the inside of the corner. Conventionally with most things, that would be fine but since bikes steer with counter steering, this will have negative effect on your riding. To avoid this, you can slot your opposite knee to the inside of your fuel tank (that's what they are designed for) to help you hold on to the bike with out putting too much pressure on the bars. Another use of the fuel tank would be to rest your elbow that is at a higher level during the lean, on it.
Also make sure your arms are nice and "bendy", stiff arms are a definite no no, and it'll only cause you problems.
You can also rest your feet on the pegs by your toes; this would give you higher corner clearance if you are talking about going real quick and it'll give a more flexible pivot point when you swivel your hips (the main movement which is known as the hanging off technique).
Also leading with your shoulder and head by pointing it to the exact direction you are wanting to go will a make you go in that direction because where ever you look, that's where you will end up and also by doing that you are transferring the weight to the inside of the corner and helping the bike turn in.
Also you can use your body like a paper weight to put pressure on the right area of the bike for the right purpose. Putting a downward pressure on the front of the bike by ducking down low and resting your torso on the fuel tank under heavy acceleration will help to avoid unwanted monos on a powerful bike. Like wise under braking, you want to sit as far back and with your torso up high and straight to create parachute effect and also help keep the rear wheel down and avoided unwanted rolling stoppies.
There are shit loads of other techniques of body positioning to get the most out of your bike. Ask around and also have a look at how the racers ride on TV or at some race meetings. That'll help you a bit.
I think i sit to far back![]()

No back chat from you KK! :P
But anyways, I'm 5ft 8in at 65kg and I used to want an R6 but I still want an R! they're hotBut in the mean, time I really want to get my hands on a GSXR250 or a Street Magic
As for my old flatmate...the one who rides like a girl .... he's 5ft 5in at 55kg and he's from Townsville Australia.
I have noticed that (generalising here) most women, regardless of the bike they ride, sit mostly upright with their butt's sticking out a tad, or more like their butts pushed more into the seat, with their chin up.
Guys (still generalising) tend to hunch over the tank, when on a sportsbike and sit like an easyboy when on a harley and sit straight like a schoolboy in a catholic school run by nuns, when on a non-sportbike or harley.
It would be interesting to know how I ride....need to get me a damn bike![]()

i ride hard up against the tank, which accounts for why my balls are so small. when i see some chicky babes tho i puff out my chest & sit straight upright to make myself appear larger(more masculine alpha male style). if i pass the cops i hunch down so i am as small as possible in the vain hope they won't see me. when i'm on queen st. I cruise real slow so everyone can admire me & my bike. if i pass a harley i make my body language totally relaxed so as to emphasise the ease at which i went by & if they pass me well i look the other way as if i wasn't trying at all.
..it's another red light nightmare..
If you own a CBR250RR, don't take the front fairing off on the track day. Got a nice scar from the helmet strap trying to suffocate me![]()
Generally its the position the bike shoves you in, with exceptions for the most comfortable position for that gammy leg, wrist, neck, back etc...![]()

I am a 5'6 68 kg rider, and most Jap bikes are great. But boy do I struggle with those big brawny British and German bikes. Oh and some of those taller off road thingies.Originally Posted by Redstar
