suspention adjusted, took her out to Te Akau today and the bike handled like a dream, unfortanately the rider didnt improve so i'm still a nana
just gotta get some pingers for the new front tyre and she'll be sweet

Yip.... Not to much of a problem getting parts, mind you I havn't tried getting bottom end bearings yet, they share a few parts with the 650 and the starters of an LS650, carbs are both mikunis
I like the fact theyre so forgiving, just use 2nd gear for going anywhere, good for dead slow up to about 50-60 k's without wrecking it, even copes with hill starts in 2nd

BTW. It's not drbig, it's spelt DR BIG, and pronounced doctor BIG!

No ,I plan to keep the klr for a few years, but I really like how you guys say the Doctor Big ONLY has 52 hp. Luxury lad. Mind you with my measly 35ish hp I have managed to fall off 3 out of 4 rides.
Still like them though and one of the best sounding bikes around.

yep ONLY 52hp, it feels like more when your powering around cars, harleys etc
its the torque on these that blows me away.
and the way the standard carbs are makes the curve smooth and easy to control,i couldn't imagine how the worked beasts handle ,i'm still trying to tame the standard one i'm riding.
would love to get a hold of another one and work it to 80-90hp and use it for beach raceing and stuff(flat side or pumper carb you'l be dropping wheel stands in 3rd and 4rth) yeeeee haaaa

Dont forget the 88 DR BIG's are 179kg dry so your looking at around 210-220kg with the fuel and oil so you need that big donkey to get up and boggie
shes a big bike and when loaded up with gear and pillion 52hp aint a lot, but it is more that ample.

Your not helping. Thats only 3kg heavier than the klr. I bet the 90 hp engines would have most of the power at the top end and would not be much use off a roadrace circuit, still be cool though.

would be very cool indeed, i could just imagine it at the burt munroe beach races. you wouldnt want to be behind it when she's laying a ditch digging roost.

Apparently so according to the internet. Add 22 litres of fuel and oil and she tops at about 200 kg, and considering I weigh 110kgs naked you can understand why 52 hp seems like heaven to me. MMM DRBIG engine transplant maybe. Btw I promise not to mention me being naked again.

was gonna pm you to see how the new beast was going, it looks good, must be smooth with that shaft drive, it looks bloody heavy but at least the weights central and not so top heavy like the DR.
hows she running, handling alright?
speaking of drags i wouldnt mind throwing some road tyres on and doing a track day, would be a lot of fun if a few ADV riders got there thumpers together on the tar for a blat.
