Fishing & riding.

Just wondered if anyone on here rides & fishes(in the same outing). I found these extending surfcasting rods which would telescope down & fit in the backpack easily. I was thinking of maybe riding out to the coast having a fish & riding home, that’d be a pretty enjoyable day IMHO. wonder what the practicalities of it are though...

I haven't tried to do both as yet but I'm sure theres a way to attach the rod (ahem) to the TLR ..... hmmmmmm ... I think ...

I'm heading up to Ngunguru this weekend for some fushing ...

Let me know if your keen to try this "dual sport" out some time. If the amount of gear becomes a problem we can always arange for a support vehicle - GF in the super windy!!

My wife and I have 3 piece surfcasters that we bought with the bike in mind, never tried taking them on it yet, might be a go. What length is the telescopic one folded and extended ? And how sturdy are they?

after i look into it more i may give it a couple test runs. all going well it could become a regular occurrence. i found a collapsible 12 ft rod at the market for $20 i might buy it, it looks a bit crappy but it could be worth the investment if things pan out ok.

I personally prefer the stick of gelignite in the Koi carp pond myself. Can't be doing with them rod things.

Ahhh. The Ministry of Works "spinner" of which my Grandfather was so fond. 1/4 of a plug in a slow running pool on your favourite trout stream. Kaboom! Pick the ones you want. No worries...

That's odd. That was one I learned from my Dad when he worked for the MoW.

I have seen a BMW K1100? with a couple of tubes welded to the luggade rack, evidently they work well. Just have to remember to bungie them down to stop them bouncing out.

In the days where I had more time I took out my fly fishing gear for a couple of rides... but they ended up just rides, i couldnt manage to stop the bike for long enough... so anyone want to buy a complete set of fly fishing gear?
