Hornet 900 seat and tank protection

I'm looking for maybe a gel seat and a some way to protect the paint on the tank from my gortex jacket and pants that is scatching the shit out of it. Anyone done the 3m protective coating on a bike tank. Am I a soft ase I can only ride for a couple of hours before my ase is sore and I ride a racing road push bike so I thought my ase was bullet proof.

I got a Rider seat for my Hornet and LOVE it!!
I have covered a lot of my tank with the 3M stone guard and it works great, after about a week it settles and you can't see it any more, wet it to apply it, that way you can move it about to get it in the right place, it doesn't like going over curves and corners however so you may need to cut it and move it into place. I got a tank guard for the bit of the tank where the front of my jacket rubs on the tank also, and it works fine. Good luck, hope that helps.

Yep did the 3M myself. I made templates with paper of the shape/size etc of where I wanted to cover my tank (mainly the front bit where I was getting stone chips and the side bits of the tank where my knees were scuffing the paint) and then cut the 3M to to shape of the template, peel the backing off, wet the 3M and put it on the tank, when its wet you can slide it about a bit until you get it in the perfect spot and then smooth out any air bubbles etc. It'll look a little funny until it dries and settles, but then you shouldn't be able to see it, it's awesome stuff!! In fact I just bought some more today and am about to do the tank on my bucket.

I bought mine from a place called Blue Cat Graphics here in Wellington (email is: sales@bluecat.co.nz) not cheap though ($50 for half a meter!!), you may be able to source it somewhere closer for cheaper though.

I used Stripe and Moulding in Hamilton to do mine professionally as I have it on a fair bit of the bike. I got the front end of my wife's MX 5 done at Mark Jones Panel and Paint in Tokoroa when we lived there (07-886 8577) and he's a real "gun" in applying it. Simply didn't want to risk it myself, either cutting or applying. I've just noticed in Yellow Pages there's a Stripe and Moulding in Rotorua that services Taupo by van. That might be an option for you.
