Stay away from The Top 10 holiday Park in Hastings around the end of March , there is a softball tournament down there for 2 days , and if you stay there, some drunk slightly over-weight Maori guy will start asking about your ride , how you got there , which way , blah blah , but the sounds are good , and the booze flows.

Easy gravel for 5 km to Doc headquaters & there is a a camp site opposite with a swimming hole, my little girl loves it , usually heaps of kids & ' er in doors ' has no probs doing it on her Gpx 250. Take food etc with you as there is no shop after Thames

Thanks bro. How far is it back to Thames? We were looking at travelling light, which usually means takeaways.
