Even if you take a legal plate, and trim the edges off... congratulations, you're now in the winning to receive a ticket...

I got a ticket in Takapuna for not displaying rego and wof labels.

My rego and wof labels are attached to the chain guard. I didn't bother sending a letter, just a photo and the ticket. Never heard back.

As long as the one you have made up looks pretty dam close you are not likely to be pulled up for it, but if the cop has had slow ticket day, you just generally piss him with your riding style, or they decided to throw it in as part of a package deal with any other tickets they may be issueing it will be $400.00 and I think 25 demerit points.
I have trimmed the black border of my number plate and I get warrants no probs. I have also had occasion for the cops to check my bike out and it has never been an issue. My rego is on the swing-arm (up hill side when on stand) and it has never drawn a comment either. I am not sure about the plate belonging to govt. anymore either what about personalized plates ?

Normly isint a problem untill you strike a prick of a cop fresh out of police college, or one that has a general dislike of bikes cough, ginga, cough even if he rides himself.

Personlised plates you mearly own the right to use that particular combanation of letters and numbers, I still believe the plate is still a piece of NZ govt property.

Please note I reserve the right to proved wrong at any stage and retract retract any or all of this information at any time as this is of course only my understanding

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round
